This is a spin-off thread from the Wedding cost/who paid thread.

We didn't have a honeymoon. We were married at the Disneyland Hotel on a Monday. I had a dear friend fly in from England for it, and my DH's parents drove to CA from FL for it. (They can't fly.)

We agreed (not too terribly willingly to do the right thing, but still, we did) to not have a honeymoon so that we could spend the one week we were able to get off of work with friends and family who traveled for the Wedding.

A year later, my in-laws gave us a week in their timeshare, which was at a timeshare three miles from Disneyland. Now, before you all go there gushing, keep in mind we just lived 35 minutes from Disneyland. It was three weeks after 9/11/01 and MIL didn't want us to travel. Sigh, so that wasn't considered a honeymoon, either.

We've had nice trips since then and anniversary vacations, but we've both agreed we have not yet had the "official honeymoon."

And maybe we just won't! I leads us to think we're still young and new-happy and fresh in our marriage since the honeymoon was never over!

Yes, we had a honeymoon - to Disney World, of course! I had been twice as a kid, and my DH had been once when he was little. He hardly remembered it. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge. My DH paid for it and 14 years ago this would have been quite a chunk of money for him. It still is, but we can just afford it better now, if you know what I mean.

We also went to Disney World. I had been once and DH had been 3 or 4 times. My one trip with my mom as a tee nwhen neither she nor I knew what to expect or had planned and Mom ended up being very sick the whole time was not good and DH wanted to show me what Disney could be.
My in laws gifted us miles to cover teh cost of airfare:goodvibesOther than that we paid for it ourselves (and paid for 3/4 of our not very pricey wedding).
We stayed at Port Orleans (when that is all the French Quarter was called) in a king room. I point out the room to DH every time we go back:upsidedow. We had the "Food and Fun" plan which was the dining plan of the day (13 years ago). It included breakfast and dinner every day (sit down, with apps and dessert at dinner and tip was included) and unlimited use of boats and some other recreations. We rented water sprites, a surrey bike and a pontoon boat with the vouchers. We also went to River Country--I am so glad I got to experience it before it closed.
And, yes, we did bring home a "little souvineer":rotfl2:

Yes, we did.

We went to Kauai for a glorious week after our September, 1988 wedding. We sailed with dolphins, took a helicopter ride through the waterfalls, hiked the Na Pali trail, drove to Waimea Canyon, went to a luau, and visited Blood Beach (named for its killer undertow - it is also the beach where Mitzi Gaynor sang "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" from South Pacific).

We stayed at the Makai Club, a timeshare in Princeville, right on the golf course. We don't golf, but the resort was a gift from DH's sister, who was working for RCI at the time. And we fell asleep watching the Olympics every night.

I was married in 1980! We went to WDW. :mickeyjum Stayed at the Contemporary. Only ONE park...Magic Kingdom! We could see EPCOT being built off in the distance! :goodvibes This was our beginning to loving DISNEY!! Went to WDW many trips after that traveling from MA. NOW we are living in CA., 20 minutes to DISNEYLAND!!!!

Other than the spending the wedding night and the following night, at one of the top floor suites of a local downtown hotel, nope.

It'll be 18 years this year. DH has talked about going away for a long weekend, for this anniversary. Don't know if that'll happen or not.

WDW for 7 days, stayed at the Beach Club.Cocoa Beach for 3 days, stayed at a Holiday Inn (I think) right on the beach, in October 1991.

Ayep.

2 weeks off after the wedding. First week was spent taking our time turning in the signed stuff to the registrar's office and getting certified copies of our marriage certificate (far more romantic than you would think!), getting from OR (where the wedding was) to WA, spending time with my aunt, getting a new combined checking account, and just doing the administrative stuff and breathing for the first time in 2 years.

Then we got ourselves (via train) to BC to board our cruiseship to spend a week getting to, around, and from Alaska.

It was very nice!

My brother and SIL never had a honeymoon...they got married the same month that my brother was graduated from college and commissioned into the AF, and he went off to training immediately after, while SIL got to move out to San Antonio and start their new lives there.

Because of that, for probably 10 years, any time they went anywhere, they mentioned that it was their honeymoon, and had a nicer time b/c of that. :) I think they've stopped doing that now though.

We spent a week at the Saphire Beach resort in St Thomas. DH planned the whole thing. He wanted to cruise but I didn't think I would like cruising. We ended up going on a DCL cruise for our 10th anniv and have cruised 6 times since so I guess I like it after all. :lmao:

We stayed at Excellence Riviera Cancun in Mexico. It was a short stay since we got married in Vegas and were there for 5 days and then Mexico for 5 days.

But the resort was beautiful, had a nice variety for restaurants, the rooms were very nice.

We went here for our honeymoon too! :thumbsup2

LOVED this place! I've been to a few more all-inclusives and none of them compare tho this place. The food was soooo good! Adults only was nice too.

We were married in August, but waited until end of November to take our honeymoon. We figured we might as well as go when it is cold in Chicago. The resort was 1/2 empty which was wonderful too.

Sandals in Ocho Rios Jamaica.

Oceanfront room....could roll over in bed in the morning and look right out at the ocean.

There was a big group of people that arrived mid week from another Sandals resort in the Bahamas because a hurricane was coming through there.

I'm not a fan of Jamaica though. If we went on a cruise there, I wouldn't get off.

We went on RCCL Freedom of the Seas, Western Caribbean. We had planned to do an all inclusive in Riviera Maya, Aventura Spa Palace. But DH was getting ants in the pants at the thought of being in one place all week (he's such a cruise guy). So when rates for a cabin on Freedom dropped, we changed our plans.

It was the right move. We had met on cruise chat board, we got engaged on cruise....it was fitting that our honeymoon be on a ship too.

We went to Disneyworld. Our second day there I got a phone call from my mom, my father had passed away unexpectedly.

Originally, I had wished we'd had the money to go somewhere exotic. But given what happened, I was so glad I was only a couple hour plane ride away.

Married 28 years. Never had a honeymoon. Took a short "vacation" last year with just the two of us - first time ever. It was connected to a medical conference though so it really wasn't honeymoonish. Hope to go to Hawaii this winter.

We went to Disney World. It was my 4th trip (first time staying on-site) and DH's first trip! I got him hooked! :thumbsup2 We stayed at Coronado Springs and were upgraded from a king room to a suite!

Oh yes we had a honeymoon. It was back in 1990. We were both working - so dinks(double income no kids)
We spent a couple days in Tahiti-
a week at Moorea
and a week at Hotel Bora Bora(deep overwater bungalo! HEAVEN!)

It was perfectly romantic!
Ah the good old days.

We went to London...in January. It was very cold (which is why it was so cheap). We saw the sights and took the tours. The hotels that were part of the package were just ok....but we thought it was great!

DW and I spent the first couple days in WDW, and then jetted off to Ko'Olina, Oahu (Hawaii) for our honeymoon. It was beautiful, and I highly recommend it! It's a little bit further away from all the Waikiki craziness, much more peaceful, and had a bunch of private lagoons for resort guests.

Pictures are in my flickr in my signature if you're curious!

We went to the Pacific NW.

We started in Seattle for a couple days -- saw the Space Needle, aquarium, etc. Then we drove to Snoqualmie Pass and spent two nights there. We went hiking and took a side trip to Roslyn. The exteriors for the show "Northern Exposure" (which I was a huge fan of at the time) were filmed there. Next we headed west to Pacific Beach. We camped within walking distance of the ocean. Finally we headed for Portland, stopped near Mount St. Helens, and drove around Mt. Hood.

It didn't feel that hectic at the time, but we did a lot of running around that week!
