This is a spin-off thread from the Wedding cost/who paid thread.
We didn't have a honeymoon. We were married at the Disneyland Hotel on a Monday. I had a dear friend fly in from England for it, and my DH's parents drove to CA from FL for it. (They can't fly.)
We agreed (not too terribly willingly to do the right thing, but still, we did) to not have a honeymoon so that we could spend the one week we were able to get off of work with friends and family who traveled for the Wedding.
A year later, my in-laws gave us a week in their timeshare, which was at a timeshare three miles from Disneyland. Now, before you all go there gushing, keep in mind we just lived 35 minutes from Disneyland. It was three weeks after 9/11/01 and MIL didn't want us to travel. Sigh, so that wasn't considered a honeymoon, either.
We've had nice trips since then and anniversary vacations, but we've both agreed we have not yet had the "official honeymoon."
And maybe we just won't! I leads us to think we're still young and new-happy and fresh in our marriage since the honeymoon was never over!
