Did you guys read this review?

:scared:

We ate at Coral Reef a few years ago, and honestly, we weren't impressed either. But I know some people love it.

Like any other review this is just one person's opinion.

And even though he "tried" to put his previous experience behind him, it has been my experience that people rarely can and I believe that it did colour his current review.

I'm not a "food critic" but I know that is the only location I regretted going to. Normally we will give a location a second chance to confirm our initial impressions. However, we elected not to spend the money to repeat the first experience. I really wish it were not this way as It has the ability with the decor to be a great dining experience.

ITA - everyone is different - each experience is different. I had heard that a chef from LeCellier moved to Coral Reef :confused3not sure where or if it was true (I'm sure I read it on the dis! :rotfl2:)

we enjoyed it - while we were eating the Dive class was going on >

DD likes steak, but she prefers fries, no problem! (actually she likes fries with her ketchup!)

DH is all about fish - he had the fish of the day, I think it was grouper...

It was more enjoyable than LeCellier on this trip for us!

I really liked Coral Reef, we eaten there 3 or 4 times. Last June being the last time. I have thought that LeCellier was not up to par the last few years, but so many people still like it.

We had a great time there and good food. No problem here. But everybody has to remember there are so many different opinions on here.

We ate dinner there in January and I was the only one that liked it! The pan sauteed grouper over risotto was excellent

I read the review and have eaten at CR many times. Sometimes good, sometimes fair. But I have to agree that the lobster salad is a waste of money. If you are a very light eater, then maybe it would be your choice. My SIL tried to order it and the server told him it was not a good choice for him. I've also never had an appetizer that wowed me here. I'll still go becuase there are some entrees we do enjoy. My DH enjoys the meals here better than I do.

I have read so many poor reviews of Coral Reef lately, its making me feel pretty nervous about our May ADR.

I am so tempted to swap it for The Wave but the veggie entree there doesn't sound too great.

Well, I'm no food critic, but by the same token who expects WDW to churn out 5 star food, IMO it can't be done on the scale of people who frequent Disney restaurants daily.

I've eaten at CR twice and found nothing wrong with my food, I actually found it to be quite good. I had Lobster the first time and tuna the second, kids had pasta, we all left happy! I would go there again!

I don't like listening to reviews. Everyone has different tastes so someone's opinion on taste doesn't matter to me.

I disliked Jiko enough to not want to go back anytime soon, or ever.
I have come to dislike Le Cellier and it now goes with Jiko in my book.
I love Coral Reef, the food was good to me, the service was a perfect speed and we saw divers!

Finally someone who agrees with me about Jiko!
I must say tho...I was not impressed with CR last Sept. and actually made a point of telling DH.."I don't care where we eat, as long as it's not CR or Jiko!"

I keep seeing the bad reviews and makes me wonder why people like it, but I guess I will have to be really brave one day when I have exhausted all other restaurants and need to fill in space. I have to eat there at least once...I mean, how bad can it possibly be? Tons of people hate Tony's and we love it. Subjectiveness...it rules the tastebuds.

Unless it's really went downhill since May '08 it can't be that bad. It wasn't the best meal I had ever ate... But it certainly wasn't bad. And the atmosphere is hard to top. It was amazing as far as that. I think a lot of people expect more just because of the prices.

That's a shame if it's not as good as it used to be. We were there in 2007 an it was one of our top meals. Of course, we were on DDP, so it was less painful to the pocketbook, but all of our dishes were great. DH's NY strip was better than the one at Le Cellier. We were stuffed. Great service and they went above and beyond to help me plan dh's birthday and have tuxedo strawberries made and brought in. DD is wanting to go back this year--I'll keep my eye on the review board for the next few months.

We used to go to Coral Reef many years ago because the atmosphere was so cool. None of our party was ever crazy about the food, but we were a hard group to please.

One other variable I'll throw in here--Some people are going to be much more picky about fish and seafood than others. Having lived in land-locked places most of my life, I'm excited to get something of the quality of a Red Lobster. Others would turn their noses up at such fare.

Good luck & enjoy your trip.:earsboy:

The first time we ate there 1999 it was great. The following two times there it was just down right terrible. My husband said he never wants to eat there again. It has been off our list for quite some time. Alot of people hate Chefs De France and we love it. Kevin always says it is one persons opinion. Go and form your own opinion. You may love what another hates.
