Did you drink coffee as a teen?

No I was about 35. On a trip to New York didnt like the tea and started drinking Lattes. Now I just drink regular coffee and dont like it very milky, a big change from a Latte.

I didn't start drinking coffee until the birth of my 2nd child (34)... had to stay awake! Now I need a cup a day!

karenos;)

I started drinking coffee after my first child was born, like a PP, to help keep me awake in the mid-afternoon hours. Since then I've developed quite an addiction to it:sad2: so much so that I won't stay at a hotel without a coffee pot in the room.

I don't think young teens should be drinking coffee (or soda for that matter) on a daily basis but I did allow DS to do so a few times a week once he was about 16. He had a few cups of tea with his Grandmom when he was younger, usually on Sunday mornings when they would do the crossword together:) I don't allow DD13 to drink caffeinated products either although her friends hang at the yuppie coffee/latte shop in town. She doesn't like hot chocolate but will on the rare occasion have a cup to fit in with her coffee-drinking friends.

I can't afford to drink my coffee from outside sources everyday and I'll admit it bothers me to see teenagers dropping so much change on their daily caffeine fix. My nieces spend about $5/day at Starbucks. What a waste of money:sad2:

Let's not forget that caffeine is very addicting. Ask anyone that attempts to get through the day without their habitual morning coffee. Why would we let our kids develop a habit that is proven addictive?

Always had it when I was little and stayed at my grandparents, (heavy on the evaporated milk, just like my Gramps;))
In high school I had a coffeepot in my room....brought a thermos and a filled D&D travel mug with me every day.. light on the cream (just enough to change the color)........when I graduated from high school for my fun award I received "Most likely to stunt her growth with Dunkin Donuts coffee".......(ahem...I am only 4'11")
I still love the java....starbucks, D&D, my Keurig, gas stations:lovestruc.......just can't swallow that Nescafe swill:scared1:

My ds has been drinking it for a few years now...he started at my inlaws...now he is a coffee snob;)

My brother was the one who got me started on the stuff... and I was around 15. He was 19.

My parents didn't drink it at all. My grandma would fix us tea all the time though, and I can't remember not having it.

DS keeps asking to drink my coffee, but I won't let him. He's hyper enough!

no, I am old enough that my parents also thought it "stunted your growth" - Though we always had ice tea in the fridge and we were not limited on the tea we could drink!:rotfl:

and, as with others, the instant my parents made was nothing like the yummy coffees we have today!!!

I got a coffee maker a couple years into college - my DH's first gift to me back when we started going out! Not romantic, but much appreciated!!!!:)

(we used to make french toast on a crepe maker and coffee in my dorm room on Sundays!:))

we don't have DD13 drink coffee at home, but she gets flavored coffee treats at Starbucks when we are out.

Nope. Not as a teenager, and not now. I can't even stand the smell of coffee.

My brother started drinking it when he was probably 12-ish. He always loved it.

I drank coffee occasionally in high school. I didn't really start till I was in college.

We were also a house that always had a pot of coffee around. Both my parents had multiple cups a day as did any company that visited.

I don't recall my brother or sister ever drinking any when we lived at home but they both drink it now. I, on the other hand, hate the stuff. I remember taking a few sips of my parents coffee when I was younger and did not like the taste of it. Still don't today. Whether it's coffee or coffee flavored stuff. But for some reason I DO like the French Vanilla Coffee Coolattas at Dunkin Donuts (has to have extra CREAM, not milk....I think it probably dulls the taste of the coffee part LOL)
