Did you bake your crocs?

Hi
I just bought my first pair of crocs for our upcoming vacation. I read so many great reviews about them on this board I had to try a pair. The girl at the shoe store told me to bake them at 130 degrees for ten minutes and then to put my feet in them to mold them. Has anybody else baked there crocs? I don't want to mess them up after spending $30.00 on them.
Thanks
Kerry

My mom bought 2 pair for herself and one pair for me and we weren't told to "bake" them. I would think they would melt, but I don't know.

I just bought my first pair on Tuesday and I have yet to take them off!! I am now a croc convert!!! Anyhoo...the saleswoman said nothing about "baking" them. She did say I could throw them in the washing machine with a couple of towels to get them clean...I would like to also know if anyone had heard about baking them!

I didn't bake them but I did put them into the dryer for ummm....about 5 or 6 minutes. They just got warmed up and I put them on....the stretched every so slightly, which I need. :thumbsup2 I've also read on this board to put them briefly into hot water (i didn't try) Now, my neighbor put hers into the microwave (i dont' know for how long) but the button on the strap flew off. They mold to ur feet just from wear, I've read the heating is for stretching and quik molding. I've had success just from the wearing and heating for stretch. Hope this helps :goodvibes

is it the crocs themselve that are so comfortable or are the imitations also comfortable? What stores are they in? Seems like good shoes for camping.

I have the Payless version- Airwalks and the Crocs. I actually prefer the Airwalks but the Crocs are great too. I did try (in store) walmarts.... just awful..very hard plastic. As far as stores...they r everywhere...Hallmark, Shoe Carnival, Dillards, Payless, Zappos...the list goes on and on.

Naw, we just threw ours on the barbie, lol

sorry could not resist the title :lmao:

Nope, I didn't bake mine! I just threw them on my feet and rarely take them off!

I was at a store the other day and thought they had crocs. It was the prettiest shade of pink. When I picked them up, I knew right then that they weren't real crocs, they were hard, hard, hard plastic.

I didn't bake mine, but I find after about three days of wearing them, they mold to your feet.

Didn't bake mine either--never heard of that actually. But I wear them so often they are definitely molded to my feet and they are awesome.

I was a little disappointed today. I went to Payless because I wanted to get some Airwalks. I was reading here on the DIS that they are close enough to Crocs. They only had two colors--BLACK (no thank you) and a green/yellow tie dye. I wanted purple or orange. They had no idea when/if they would be getting any more at all or if they did, what colors they would get. So, guess I'll either have to break down and buy the real thing or stick it out until more Payless stock comes out!!

I have not baked my Crocs, but it says on their website that they can be put in an AutoClave (a machine that heat-sterilizes surgical instruments) so I would say you could bake them without melting!

:offtopic: Sorry to hijack, but I have to ask gigsjp, is she ordering from Crocs website or Payless website? And, does anyone know why at Zappos Crocs are $35.95???? I thought they were $29.99.

Now back to your regularly scheduled DISing.

I don't know if I would have the nerve to bake them...but I did put mine in the dryer for about 4 minutes and then put them on with the strap around the back and moved my feet gently in each direction to stretch them. I did need the strap to stretch...it was pushing my foot forward so my toes touched the front. I also used a hair dryer the next day to heat up the sole for a minute to get them more quicky molded to my feet. Both method seemed to work the same...the material got very warm and soft and was easy to stretch. It cooled off in a matter of minutes. I am now a convert...love them! I too saw imitations at Target...they were miserably hard and not at all like soft, comfy Crocs!

I've got 4 pairs of crocs now - and nope, I've never baked a single one.

I buy the "cayman"model of crocs now - because of the sizing - the "Beach" version just doesn't fit too well (one size is too small, and the next size is too large) - but the "cayman" model comes in individual sizes so they fit me better. The trouble is that the cayman version is nearly impossible to find except online - all of the sporting goods/gift shops/hallmark stores around here that sell crocs only sell the "beach" model.

I've ordered from Zappos - and I yes, I was initially peeved about the price ($35.95) - but that includes shipping - so it worked out about the same price as all of the other sites that didn't have free shipping. Plus, I got them FAST from Zappos - in 2 days.

I also put mine in the dryer for 6 or 7 minutes. It really helped them stretch a bit. i want to add that it took about 2 and a half weeks before I really fell in love with them. Now I want a few more pairs. I have croc professionals (more streamlined with no holes on top) LOVE THEM!

I also put mine in the dryer to soften them and stretch them a little. It worked. However, I never wear shoes without socks. When I wear my crocks they feel okay, but then my feet feel itchy. Anyone else have this problem?
