I have to admit that I haven't been a huge fan of the mickey soap that you get at the resorts. I usually bring my own soap but take the mickey ones home for the prize box in my class. I was looking at the bath bar I got a few weeks ago at BWI and I think it's different than the ones we got last year at AKL. It's in a wrapper instead of a box and it seems to smell a lot better.

Is it just my imagination or is the soap really different?

I noticed they changed the packaging on our last trip as well. I couldn't remember what the old soap smelled like though ... The newer bath bars seem a lot bigger. The containers for the shampoo and lotion have changed as well. They use to be in tall thin containers but now they are in shorter fatter ones :)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear they changed the packaging design - I loved it. I just hope that they did not change the Mickey Hand Lotion. That stuff is the best! Minimal smell and totally hydrates my skin. Wish I knew what brand they used.

Thanks Bunnyfoo :D . The new short, fat bottles are so cute!

Joats, the packaging is still adorable. The soap is just in a mickey wrapper instaed of a mickey box. The lotion is still great :D I asked for an extra bottle one day and they gave me a small bag full!

Changed brands. It's definitely Ivory now and used to be something else (Camay?)

I must say you all are much more observant than I am, I didnt notice any difference. Maybe its a guy thing. :D

While we're on this clean topic, anyone here ever experience the oatmeal soap at Swan and Dolphin!! It's a keeper!! Can be somewhat irritating on sunburn skin though.

heh

And the S/D soap is really good...I just finished up my last bar that I brought home with me!
:hyper:

The soap is also a different shape now. It's more a rectangle than an oval. It really does smell like Ivory. I first noticed the change Jan. 04 at Pop Century.

I love the oatmeal soap too! It keeps my skin really smooth. Unfortunately it also leaves oatmeal bits in my bathtub. The S/D aloe lotion is also good, especially for sunburns :D

What resort did you stay at that they gave you a bag full? I usually pretty much steal them by hording them away daily so I can return home w/about 6 or so. I'm so glad that mousekeeping humors me and keeps replacing them.

We are packing to move and I found a bar of Polynesian Resort soap from 1980 when I was a teen and stayed with my family. It's a small bar wrapped in lime green paper that's covered with batik-looking tikis... sooo cute. It says "Polynesian Village" on it. I treasure it... It's a display item now!

I noticed this past trip to WDW that the soap packaging had changed... Didn't realize the actual soap had as well.

I still haven't recovered from them eliminating the powdered soap from the theme park restrooms! :p

We were at the WL two weeks ago and still got the boxed soap and tall bottles of shampoo/ conditioner but a short squatty bottle of lotion. I love it all and always hold it back.

Does anyone have any idea what type of shampoo is in the Mickey shampoo bottles? Is it for normal, oily or dry hair? Also, another question about the soap. I know when I have stayed in hotels in the past, they usually have two different types of soap. One for the shower (usually deoderant type) and one for the sink, (some type of beauty bar). Does this hold true for Disney resorts as well.

thanks........merryg

When I was there in 2002 there was the shower soap and a facial soap which was smaller.

Hi. We stayed in Disney for 11 nights about 2 weeks ago and I brought home a small bag full of soap and stuff from hoarding it away every night. Mouse keeping is pretty nice about refilling, aren't they? I thought something looked different with the soap packaging!!! Thank goodness it's not just me! :hyper: Our family stayed at 4 different Disney hotels during the trip. As usual, the only place that did not have Mickey stuff was the GF. They have always had special GF soap instead, but I think they had new items this year too! My favorite at the GF was shower gel that smelled like fresh apples! Anyone else notice this? I think it was kinda a nice surprise.

We stay at GF so we never get the Mickey soap. I was wondering if mousekeeping could get some for the kids, they would love it. If I requested it, do you think they could do it? Just asking.
