Did the Hyatt NOT get your luggage to the ship?

We are staying at the Hyatt the night before our cruise, and one of the big advantages is that they are supposed to get your luggage to the ship for you the next morning. You leave your bags in your room with the DCL tags, and then *poof* it appears in your stateroom.

This sounds awesome, but as the date draws nearer, my inner OCD control freak is demanding that we bring our luggage to the DCL transfer counter ourselves in case the Hyatt drops the ball.

Has anyone let the Hyatt handle your luggage, and regretted it?

Please let me know your experiences....

TIA

I worried about that to but when you check in they have you fill out a form for them and you fill out a form to give to disney as well so between the two I don't see it likely they could lose it. I've never read a review where it's happened either. It really is a wonderful service.

We have only used this service once. It worked fine.

As a PP has stated, you complete a form for the Hyatt and one for DCL indicating that you are using the luggage transfer, your hotel room no., etc., so there is "redundancy" for the information.

That said, I have encountered some DCL passengers grimly hauling what appeared to be all their luggage to the Hyatt restaurant for a pre-cruise breakfast. My hope was that they were driving to PC after breakfast, not that they wanted to take their own luggage to the MCO cruise check in.

Stayed there in April and had no problems. I worried when we got back from breakfast and the luggage was still there, so I called and they assured us our room number was on the list. We left it in the room and sure enough, it showed up outside our stateroom later on that day.

Our luggage has always shown up with no problems, just make sure you put on the luggage tags DCL sends you. It was nice to just put our luggage out and not worry about it!

Just had my memory jogged by the PP's post. While waiting for the elevator, I bumped into the hotel staff doing the luggage pull for DCL passengers. They allowed me to check that they had our room number on their list. Tipped them on the spot and went for breakfast! By the time I got back, the luggage was gone.

Hubby & I worried about the same thing so we just took our 1 checked suitcase with us down to the DCL desk. It wasn't a terrible inconvenience.

We had no problems when we used them before. We'll be there again in a few weeks.

Have used this service 8 times, always works perfectly! Its a big part of why we pay the premium to stay at the Hyatt.

No problems either, but i did call the front desk that morning to make sure our room was on the pick up list because I am a little OCD as well.

I have never read of a problem with it.

Tell them at checkin and get the letter that tells you what to do.

They actually picked up our bags at 8, before DH and DS were even out of bed.

I have also used them eight times and never had a problem. Most times they have picked them up before we left the room but the last time we were not leaving room until 9 a.m. and they were still there. I just double checked at front desk to confirm they were on the list. We had four rooms then. Even though as a group of ten people a rental vehicle or private shuttle certainly would have been cheaper we utilized this hotel and DCL bus simply for the ease of the luggage transportation. Primarily because we had a couple elderly couples who did not travel light :rolleyes1 Cannot express just how convenient and efficient this service is :thumbsup2

You did this list year and doing it again in a couple weeks. No problem at all. I did opt to stay in the room until they were picked up, and the guys that picked them up reassured me they would make it to the ship.

We had a problem one time when we had two rooms and only one room ended up on the list for luggage transfer. We went back to the rooms (which were next to each other) after breakfast, one room had already been collected, but the other had not. We thought they were just coming back for the other room, so we went on down to check in for the DCL bus. After check in, I went back up to the room and the bags were still not collected, so I stopped at the front desk and was told that room was not on the list. The front desk was able to get on the radio to the luggage collection crew and tell them to get the bags from my room. I also called the hotel when we got to the Cruise terminal to confirm the bags had been picked up.

The moral is, before leaving the hotel, it is probably a good idea to confirm that your room is on the luggage pickup list for DCL. I do suspect that even if bags are not picked up, housekeeping will find them and the hotel would still have plenty of time to put the bags on a truck to the ship, but that is not something I would want to test.

We were just finishing up getting ready when they came to get our bags right at the beginning of the time window. It put my mind at ease to be there when they picked them up.

We had no problem a week ago. Luggage was picked up about 9:00 when we were just getting ready to leave. We had left a dollar bill on each bag and the man was very nice and thanked us for the tip.

In all the years on this board and all the thousands of people posting their good experiences with Hyatt I have only seen one post where luggage was missed and this was a few years ago.

Go forth and don't worry!!! "May the odds be ever in your favor"

MJ

We were just at the Hyatt last week and took our bags down to the DCL area ourselves. Super easy and convenient.
