I think I may have made a boo boo when I told my daughter about Universal and Harry Potter.
This is now one of her top REQUESTS to do on our trip this year.
We will be doing 5 days at Disney (we are staying offsite at Windsor Hills).
We also wanted to do a water park day and LEGOLAND.

Will this even be possible?
We are there for 10 days.

Is it possible to do Universal in 1 day? 1 full day trip?

Our first trip as a family to Universal was a one day trip. It was over a holiday with extended hours, and we used every second of those hours. You won't see everything at Universal in a day, but you can make a good run at the Harry Potter areas and hit some highlights in the other areas of the park. You will need park-to-park tickets to visit both in the same day and to ride the Hogwarts express.

Depending on when you are going, I would price the express pass (or a room for a night at one of the hotels that includes the express pass to get 2 days express pass included - that is often cheaper than purchasing the express pass).

The highlights can be gotten in one day but to give it a full experience, I would allow two days. Universal is a fun place with a lot to do (even for old people like myself). It's not Disney, but, in many areas it is better then Disney so going there isn't like facing a firing squad.

BTW, I have never gone for 10 days and have covered all of Disney, seen Universal, Sea World and even drove to Kennedy Space center. I have also headed the other way toward Legoland (it was Cyprus Gardens at the time). Driven up to Silver Springs and done a lot of things during not even that much time.

For our June trip I just bought my god daughter and her parents 2-park 1 day tickets because 4 months ago at age 7 she discovered Harry Potter. What they are planning on doing is just Harry Potter. Her mother thinks they can easily spend 8 to 10 hours in the 2 Harry Potter areas.

I might be in the minority but I think it is absolutely possible to do Universal for a day, especially if your main priority is Potter stuff!! If express pass is in your budget, that might be a way to make sure you get to see everything!

My trips have only really been WDW and USO though when I was really little we did Seaworld and Busch Gardens.

I would recommend at least 2 days for Universal but what may be good is to go to Universal's website and look through all their rides, attractions, shows, etc to see what interests you all. Some people truly only go to Universal for Harry Potter thus a 1-day park to park is more than doable. But once you start to branch out into the other stuff available there may just not be enough time in a day to get it all done even with Express Pass depending on what you want to do.

Other question would be are both IOA and Studios what you want to do or do you only want to do one park at Universal and not the other? In order to ride the Hogwarts Express though (which takes you between the Harry Potter lands in IOA and the Studios) it is required to have a park-to-park ticket pass.
