Did dues go up?

I haven't been reading the boards lately so I don't know if it's been asked before. I did a search and didn't find anything, so thought I'd ask. I just looked online to see that the dues for my 200pts at bcv has gone up about $27 a month. Wow, that's a big jump. This is our first year owning so I don't know how much it goes up every year. I think $27 is a lot to go up though. At this rate in a couple of years the dues will be as much as my payment for the resort.

You should have received a dues statement by now.

I doubt that your monthly dues went up by that amount, unless they were somehow calculated incorrectly last year. If property taxes were underestimated for '04, the difference would be made up in the first month of '05.

Dues only went up about 2% from '04 ($4.18 per point). '05 dues at BCV are $4.27 per point. That's $854 on 200 pts, or $71.16 per month. If you paid more than $71.16 in January, call member accounting and they can certainly explain it to you.

In my case my first new dues auto debit for 2005 was going to be about 20 dollars more then the old auto debit. They are charging me for my portion of the propery tax estimate underpayment all at once in January.

My next 11 dues auto debits are going to be about $2 more then they were last year.

Maybe that is what you are seeing online at your bank?

Edited to include actual statement numbers:
I found my statement. In my case I owe 19.90 in 2004 Property tax.

For 250 points at BCV my January debit will be 108.85(Includes 2005 dues plus 19.90 from 2004), February-November 88.95, and December 88.91. For a total of 1087.26.

Looking back I paid 91.36 last January(Includes 2004 dues plus 4.31 from 2003), 87.05 February-November, and 87.10 in December. For a total of 1048.96.

My annual increase ends up only being $38.30 or 3.65%.

During 2004 the state of Florida raised the taxes on all timeshares in the state. This resulted in an underpayment of dues for our DVC properties. This resulted in a one-time increase in the dues we pay for the month of January only, then a smaller payment for the rest of the year that will only be slighly more than your regular 2004 year payments due to the regular increase in taxes for 2005.

Look at the bottom of your statement. If you pay monthly it will show your payment schedule.

For our 230 point OKW contract, the statement reads:

"DO NOT PAY FROM THIS STATEMENT. Your bank account will be automatically debited for $92.36 on 01/15/05, and for $74.03 on the 15th of each month beginning February through November. The final payment of $73.91 will be debited on 12/15/05."

Last year our monthly payment was $70.47, so the increase to $74.03 represents an increase of just over 5%

I think they went up a little, but nothing that would seem to make any huge impact on most folks.

Don't know why but my monthly auto-debits dues are going down this year.

They were roughly $75 last year (May-Dec). My statement said this years would be in the mid $50's.

Haven't really thought about it...just glad it was down.. :cool1:

Since you bought into SSR, you were responsible for a pro-rated share of the dues from May through December (8 months). But, if you check your records, you will probably find that payments did not begin until July. Effectively you were paying for 8 months' worth of dues spread over 6 months.

This year you are paying for 12 months' of dues spread over 12 months, which equates to a lower monthy debit amount.
