Josh's latest blog post at easywdw claims:

"And if you really want to flip out over the current state of things, Disney is distributing Key to the World cards that don’t work in the legacy FASTPASS system to resort guests using FASTPASS+"

Can anyone who arrived in the last 24-48 hours confirm?

Bumping this thread.

It looks like slowly but surely, guests will have to choose between testing FP+ or stay with the regular FP system until FP+ goes live...

Oh groan! I hope it isn't true. Ugh...I may have to tweak my FP+ if it is as I was not planning to double dip on any single ride but was planning to use both (3 for MK is very hard when you have a preschooler and grade schooler who have different ideas of MUST DOs!) That is the only park I think I may have difficulty in...

hmm....back to the drawing board!

I will probably have a stroke if this is true. I do *not* want to test FP+, let me opt out and use FP-. Why they would take it away when it's still being considered a "test" is beyond me.

because it would make more sense to test a system the way it is actually going to work?

I hope this fixes the "issues" with fp-. From easywdw:

"Two weeks ago, Disney began limiting the number of paper FASTPASSes available during the day for all attractions because FASTPASS+ is now available to all Disney-owned resorts. That’s pushed out return times at most attractions, particularly those that already have limited capacities like Toy Story Mania, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Soairn’, and Test Track. We’re talking about all FASTPASSes for the day being distributed before 10:30am for those rides. Even attractions like Mission:SPACE, which has return times just 40 minutes out even on the busiest days. has had FASTPASS return times two+ hours in the future."

To add more to that nastiness, we were denied fast passes to toy story during early morning magic hours. They kept the machines shut down until 9. So standby was really long because people were being told there might not be any fast passes. By the time fast passes were released, the fp line extended to between One man's dream and little mermaid. The normal passes were gone in 30 minutes. Which is slightly faster than when we were there on the previous Monday.

I was in WDW the week before last, and I agree that MK is the hardest. With good planning, I could always pull more than three fastpasses a day. The MDE app kept giving me an error when I tried to switch times for some of my FP+ choices , and the lines at the kiosks were ridiculous with only one CM there to help clueless people. I would have been ticked if I could not pull regular fastpasses too.

So what happens to AP holders staying on site given access to FP+? I thought AP's were still working in the legacy machines...

We just got home and were able to use both systems. Magic kingdom was only place needed to do that. 3 fast passes is just not enough for that park!

Reading through the other "double dipping" threads I've heard the same thing. That easywdw blog post was posted this evening, so I'm very interested to see if people arriving yesterday or today have KTTW cards that work in legacy machines.

Still haven't heard anyone actually report that they're KTTW card didn't work in the FP machine. If this happens to us, I plan to have them replaced at guest services with cards that work.

As someone who was just there, I hate to say it but it really does need to be one or the other. I especially was thinking this when I was standing in line for BOG for over 20 min for lunch knowing that others had been able to make reservations.

One would like to "assume" that the fp+ will work correctly. On my MK day, I would have gladly handed in my magic band and said just give me the legacy machine.

I understand, to a point, if people are frustrated with "double dipping" when given a fully functioning FP+ system. However, it is another thing entirely to take away legacy FP when FP+ still has glitches.

It had to be done before the crowds get overwhelming for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can you imagine what it would be like for people going when the crowd levels are a 10 and one family can get 3+ access to legacy fastpass? While another family may get none? Leave the severely limited number of fastpasses for the people who saved their hard earned dollars to take a trip just like I did in my opinion. They don't deserve massive standby lines while I sail through everything.

I don't like being limited to 3 more than the next person. I think it's stupid and it's going to make me rethink another trip. But I knew when I linked my tickets today what I was doing and I wanted to be assured of 3 certain rides a day more than I wanted to hope there would be enough left over for me when I got there. I don't like it, but I will live with it. I want my family to enjoy their trip.. but not at the expense of another family.

The "double dipping" has never been an official treat to those testing FP+. All cast members were instructed to inform guests to use one or the other. Guests figured out from social media or through their own trial that that there is an open loophole. For those who heard from CM, the cast member is going directly against the FAQ and resource we have.

Has anyone else confirmed this yet? This could level the playing field a little, at least temporarily.

This won't really affect me if it is true. I have my FPs for the things I like to do and that's enough. Between EMHs, the Christmas party, and the Candlelight Processional( special area for Illuminations) I'll get to do everything I want anyway.

It's all good.:)
