I knew DH for about 6 mos...we were just sorta friends and 1200 miles apart geographically. THEN

He called and asked me to go to Disney with him for a conference. He conferenced all day and I did the parks. But...we went to the MNSSHP together and it was there that i fell in love with the excited 10 year old boy in his eyes as he watched the Boo to You Parade and the fireworks.

I really was very lukewarm to him til that point...and even not mad about him after...but liked him.

3 years later...we were married 4 weeks ago...and are headed to our Annual Disney trip next week for our honeymoon.

I sometimes wonder what if he hadn't asked me to go....but he did... :lovestruc

Excellent! I can't get anyone within my basic parameters to go with me. Pretty much given up and decided to be my own trophy bride.:goodvibes

Have fun on your Disneymoon!!

I gave my boyfriend tickets to Disney for our first anniversary, and for our second I hope to be there again! It wasn't Disney that brought us together at all, but it's certainly become a part of our lives and I feel so lucky for it!

That's so cute! Congrats!

My boyfriend isn't a big Disney fan like me, but he likes Disney (LOVES Duck Tales). We are going in May for my birthday and our 20 month anniversary. Hopefully he can see why I love Disney so much when we go. This will be his first time going to Disney World and he's 26, but it's never too late to go to Disney World. :)

He told me one time that he liked Donald more than Mickey, which made me smile because I always liked Daisy more than Minnie! I thought that was so cute! I think it's a sign! :rotfl:

Lillian, mdoll - great stories! Thanks for letting us peek. Sorry Darcy, did not mean to be sarcastic. My currently favorite bumper sticker says Wag more, bark less.

beansmom - thanks again for such a positive, hopeful thread! More success stories, please.

Dean, no worries, I took it as tongue-in-cheek. Made me laugh.

Note to self: to Find love take a friend to Disney.

Hmmmm..... Wonder how my already planned trip with an old friend in march will turn out now. LOL :woohoo:

Oh! And Lillian.... Make sure you guys tell Donald of your love of him and Daisy of the "1st couple". I'm sure Donald would love it!

I will do that for sure! I always loved Donald and Daisy so much more than Mickey and Minnie. I always seem to like the more under appreciated characters. I think I will confess my love to Donald. He was my first Disney crush. Let's hope my boyfriend doesn't get too jealous. :rotfl:

I love these types of threads!!!
And since my friend Darcy already posted....I'll fill the rest of you in on my story.

I joined these boards because I have a love for Disney and enjoy going to my "happy place" as often as possible. I mostly read the threads about planning trips and resort reviews. One day I decided to stop in and "lurk" on the single's board. I noticed a group of other people from New England. I started posting with them and we all decided that we wanted to meet as a group. We picked a Casino in CT as a good arena with plenty of people and excitement so no one would feel obligated or uncomfortable meeting. I took the reigns and started planning and another person on the boards offered to help. His screen name is Buena Vista (Tom). We started planning rooms, dinner, meet-ups, etc. It got difficult to do over email, so he called one night and that's when the magic happened. Trust me when I say that I hate talking on the phone...I hate it, but we would stay on the phone for hours and hours. We decided that we both liked each others personalities and character. We decided to meet in person before the "official" meet at the casino. We fell in love. Tom is in Boston and I am in Vermont, but after two years, we are still making it work. Every other weekend one of us travels to the others home. We vacation together multiple times a year. We often go to Disney and meet up with our VERY special Disney friends. One day we will figure out this distance thing! Tom has a very successful career with the government and I have kids that are tied to family in VT, but someday we will make the distance thing work!

Maybe there still is hope for me!!

LOL. Glad things (Disney) brought you together and you made things work!!

Congrats!

I so love stories like these... they give me hope too!! :goodvibes Keep 'em coming! I'd love to be able to share a story of my own. :cloud9:

Sort of.

Way back when I was a Freshman in college and DH was a Sophmore, we were on the same social sports team. We were in different divisions, though, and didn't hang out together much. We were also both dating other folks on the team at the time. Anyways, our team did a fundraiser where we cleaned up one of the sports stadiums after an event and as we wandered all over the stands with garbage bags in our hands, I started up a conversation with DH. Somehow, the topic turned to what we had done over the summer. I, of course, focused on the highlight of my summer, which was my senior class trip to Disney World. At which point DH mentioned that he had spent the previous summer working as a CM. I just about freaked out! I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever heard of, and I spent the rest of our trash picking evening picking his brains about the parks and CM life, and totally ignoring my on-again/off-again since high school boyfriend.

It was the first lengthy conversation we ever had. It took another year of hanging out, sharing random between class lunches, and just generally being friends before we started dating. A year after that, we took our first vacation as a couple...to Disney, of course.

try making it work from Boston to Dallas! Boston to VT ain't so bad. ANd when the time is right, you will make the change. I moved to the Boston area 2 years ago...and never regretted it for a minute.

Congrats and thanks for your stories! I know my "Prince" is out there as well. :wizard:

So true. I know we both consider ourselves fortunate that we live close enough to be able to visit one another and travel together and do so within our budgets. As RoseAnne said, we both have ties to our families, jobs, and communities that right now would be difficult to break. For now, we're blessed to be able to see each other and spend quality time together with one another as often as we do. Besides, I've been told I'm much more tolerable in limited quantities :)
