did anyone wear their wedding dress to their home reception?

I haven't had my wedding yet, but I am planning to wear my dress. DH will be wearing a black suit, I don't want to rent another tux.

We are wearing out Just Married shirts that I am making and our wedding ears. Having a Mad Hatter tea. Sorry I do not want to wear my dress in TX heat in July. :rotfl:

I'll be wearing my dress for the at-home reception because a lot of the family is not coming to the wedding, so I thought it would be nice. Plus, I get to wear my dress more than once! DF will be wearing a black suit (which I think he's going to wear for the wedding as well).

We're having two home receptions (in different cities) and planning to wear our wedding gown and tux. That makes it worth buying a tux rather than finding a rental in Orlando. It's fun to dresss up and we'd get more use out of our formal clothes. Hopefully, it'll feel magical all over again each time too. :wizard:

Chocolate Mouse...I saw JC Penney's had tuxedos for the price you would rent one.

I'm wearing my dress and DF is wearing his suit for our first at-home reception b/c it's at a nice place (where I would have had my reception if I did not have a Disney wedding). Our second at-home reception will be a bbq-type style at DF's parents' house so we will not be our wedding attire there.

I am on the fence when it comes to wearing my dress at the at home reception. We are having a luncheon, while its at a nice place I just don't think I want to have the dress on again...I can't decide...This would be a good thing since I could get another formal dress...Any advice?

DH and I wanted to, but after the wedding was said and done-- my dress had gotten too dirty at Disney, and it was such a pain in the rear to put on and off-- HEAVY (it felt like I was carrying around another me!)... Even DH said when he was picking me up in the photos (Which is normally easy and he can bench press me with one arm... he said it was very difficult with the dress-- especially it being so heavy!).

We just wore business casual clothes and had everyone else do the same. It really seemed more like a "party" instead of a "wedding reception".... we all had a great time!

I won't be wearing my dress to my at home reception. I'm with you Maggimus...I think it will be uncomfortable and a little too "heavy" to enjoy the reception. We're having a casual cocktail reception, so it will be a more relaxed atmosphere. :)

I am wearing mine and my bridesmaids are wearing theres again. The men will be in dark suits and my DF in a tux. I am having 100 people at my home reception, so we are doing everything again...dance, cake cutting etc.
