My family rode it when it first opened, years ago. Everyone got nauseous. Can anyone tell me if it's different now compared to when if first opened? It was SO intense, I think someone even died from it????

I did ride it when it first opened. They a few years ago, made two side of the attraction. There is orange team and green team. The orange team is identical to the ride when it opened and is the more intense side. The green team (the side we now ride) is less intense. If you had an issue with the small spaces, that is still the same, but this side doesn't do the spinning to simulate the weightlessness. It's definitely less intense and a lot of fun!!!

I rode it within the first few weeks. It might have been more intense, but I never got sick...

The orange side is VERY intense - way too intense for me, and I have never had any problems on any kind of ride that I've tried in the past.

The green side is way more manageable for me, but I honestly don't think it's that fun. :confused3 Luckily, there is something for everyone at Disney!!

Sorry if I wasn't much help! :)

I rode it when it first opened and I did not respond well. I felt sick for the whole day. I was afraid to ride it again, but then when the green side opened I decided to give it another try. Honestly, like the PP said, it was almost TOO toned down. It's fun, but it feels like you're barely moving. The ride concept is cool though, so I guess it's worth it to ride. If the original version was too much for you, give the green side a try. You might like it!

Ditto! I rode it when it first opened. I really did enjoy it. It didn't make me sick, but some of the other members in my party were feeling a bit queasy. The green side is comparatively very mild- although I wonder if people with claustrophobia have a problem because I always feel a bit claustrophobic in there.

I did! And I loved it! Now I still ride the Orange side, but have experienced both, due to a friend wanting to ride it, but she has motion sickness.... Orange is WAY more intense, and I agree Green is WAY too toned down. However, I think I remembered reading somewhere that when they made the two sides, they even toned down Orange. I could be wrong, but Green is still a great ride for people who can't handle the G-Forces and Orange's intensity.

I rode it the first month it opened, got dizzy, and haven't ridden it since. Twice in a row was too much.

Orange side spins, green side does not. That's the difference.

When riding the orange, it is important to look directly at the screen the whole time. This is different from other activities, where it is best to close your eyes or look down when feeling dizzy. On this ride, you have to look at the screen.

My family and I rode it during the soft opening. Way more fun than now butnot if you are prone to motion sickness. The Ex had a headache for a day.

2minny.....

In a nutshell, it has been split into two different rides, since it opened.
ORANGE is the exact same ride as it was when it first opened. (WITH FULL G-FORCES)
GREEN..... same ride, NO G-FORCES....

We rode it the 1st day it was opened in fact the frist couple of hours, had no idea what it was. Felt like the scene from Spys Like Us. I liked it, my wife did not respond to it so well was dizzy for hours, I have heard that they toned it down a bit. Have not been on it since (have a son who is not tall enough yet) hopefully he can get on it this year when we go in Dec:woohoo:

Rode the original and have never rode again.Gave us all headaches. We all love coasters too!

I rode it with child and kept trying to look at her or check on her. My stomach was a little upset afterwards and I never get sick on any ride.

I don't have any direct information on it, but I don't believe that the Orange side was slowed down to any appreciable degree from how it was when it first opened.

In general, you can consider Orange to be the original attraction.

Green is the "lite" version, which does not rotate the simulator to simulate G forces, but still gives you a decent experience as it still tilts and such. The lack of rotation eliminates the coriolis effect that is often the cause of sickness on the ride, which is intensified if you do not keep your head perfectly straight (as mentioned above).

When it was first being tested, rode it back to back 4x in a row. Use to be seriously into Aerobatics in the early 80's and it even made me a bit "silly" after 4 rides. Never in a million years did I think I would feel a little unsettled. It has been toned down quite a bit since testing and opening. Like someone else mentioned if you ride with motion and may be scared of getting motion sickness; Do not look side to side nor up or down. Look straight ahead. The ride is not spinning as fast as many think to create the desired effect(or undesired effect for some.) Hope you can enjoy it.pirate:

I rode it once each trip when it first opened, and exited with varying degrees of nausea (never really bad, but had to sit for a few minute a couple of times).

Since they went to colors, I've ridden the orange side a number of times with no ill effects - including six times in one afternoon, one right after another except a small break to try out the green side (eh) with no ill effects. I'm even able to operate the control nearest me on each side if the position isn't filled, if necessary, without feeling nauseated.

Our first visit to WDW was in August of 2003, right after it opened. Both my son & I were fine after riding it. Both my daughter and wife, however had a different opinion. They were ready to leave EPCOT as soon as we got off. 5 years later, they would not go on it. My son & I did it again, and we loved it. Haven't done the green side though.

Haven't done the green side though.
Don't waste your time (said the voice of experience ;)). If you do decide you want to try Green, do it first. Doing it in the middle of, or following, one or more Orange rides, is a let-down.
