I was just reading another post about the new Spaceship Earth...did anyone else notice, in the part of the ride where they were talking about computers, the scene showed a room filled with giant computers (I think it was supposed to be in the 70's or 80's)...and in that room was a woman, dressed in some crazy short dress with yellow tights, platform heels, and a big afro? (She also had on a lab coat, I think, and was holding a clip board?)

She totally distracted me because she stood out so much! My husband asked, "Why is the woman in the computer room wearing a halloween costume?"

I just thought it was odd and stood out? Anyone else, or is it just me?

Yup...she's there. I like the new 1970's computer room scene. :thumbsup2

I don't see what's so strange about her. She's dressed in pretty typical tacky Seventies clothing. :)

Would anyone have actually worn that to work, though, in the 70's? Looks more like a party outfit with a lab coat thrown over it.

We won't even go into the historical accuracy of non-caucasian males in that field of work in those days...

I'd like to think they lifted the idea from an actual photo from wherever that's supposed to be (NASA's Johnson Space Center??). But I doubt it!

What was "cool" back then is ever so frightening now!!! I shudder to think of the '80's...:scared1: :scared1: Big hair...gobs of make-up...:scared:

:rotfl: I well remember young women dressing like that to go to work. Back in the 70's you were very much in style with an outfit like that. We get a real laugh when we look at pictures of our's and our friends' weddings from the 70's. Some of the hair styles are quite frightening.:rotfl:

Oh yeah! I noticed her! I thought it was much for wearing to work - but if you guys say it was normal...

Having worked in the 70's with computers which are represented in SSE, the scene is very much correct, even the clothing and hair on the people. We didn't wear lab coats--we wore "smocks" which were bright blue. We had to haul around large boxes of paper to feed the printers and perform other tasks, so our clothing needed protecting.

It made me laugh to see that scene! Oh--the memories! ;)

The thing is that a Computer lab tech dressed that way in the '70 would have frozen her buns off!!!

They had to really cool down those rooms to keep the core memory from melting.

Hope she is wearing thermals!

I thought thats why the tights and not just bare legs when I looked at her. Yes we looked like that but as someone said before we had the long blue smocks and some times gloves with out finger tips and ear plugs. All the cold and noise got to you after awhile.

Have to add this really gave me a good laugh.

Don't know about you guys, but I dig the boots! And honestly, I think I saw someone in this outfit on the Subway in NYC just yesterday. :goodvibes

I dont think it looks any worse than the lowrider jeans and hoodies worn w/ hat on, tilted to the side like the view I get each day now. Its funny what people notice though.. I never took a second look at party girl in a lab jacket.:lmao:
