IMHO, that outfit doesn't really look so far out there. At least not these days. Hasn't anyone notices some of the outfits out there today? Minus the "fro" I think you might just see very similar attire on alot of the younger ones of today. Actually, we live in a time now where almost anything goes. You can see quite a few out there that dress in a new type of "retro". I see quite a bit dressing like I did in the 70's, just a wee bit more updated. Am I showing my age?:hippie:

Don't know about you guys, but I dig the boots! And honestly, I think I saw someone in this outfit on the Subway in NYC just yesterday. :goodvibes

I don't even live in NY and minus the hair and with a black tights or nylons I saw someone in that outfit last week!

I must admit I do own those boots......not so shiny though!:lmao:

Actually, I noticed her for a completely different reason - she's a dead ringer for Nichelle Nichols, the woman who plays Lt. Uhura on Star Trek.

And in fact, she looks a lot like Uhura looked in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, from 1979:

DING DING DING...we have a Winner! Thats who I thought it was too!;)

I believe I saw 20 somethings wearing this the other night, except the tights are now leggings. Gawd...no 80's, 70's are retro, 80's just make me feel old!!!:rotfl2:

Hey, I knew I was old when I heard my favorite English Beat song on Muzak in the supermarket a few years ago.

Speaking of old, I was amazed when a kid told me the other day she was looking for a "retro" prom dress from the 80's...when did the 80's become retro? And I think I may sell her my prom dress!:rotfl2:

DH and I noticed that mechanical lady for a totally different reason. Our ride was stopped in that room and we had 3 or 4 minutes to take it all in. At one point the movements on the woman must re-set or something because her body would lean forward, her head would JERK to attention and the look in her eyes was one of mild shock. :rotfl:

It was VERY entertaining........we about died with laughter and HAD to ride it again just so we could see if it happened on the next round.

I KNOWWWWWW!! A few weeks ago my granddaughter was talking about "the olden days". I asked her when exactly she meant and her reply was......

"oh, you know gramma, back in the 1970's" :lmao:

Geez I felt so old!

I had a math teacher in high school who dressed like that everyday

I'm not commenting on the choice of clothing but just throwing in a tidbit of information. That is her new location on Spaceship Earth. She used to be in the radio broadcast scene, of course in a different costume. Kevin Yee points that out in his article

Hey leg warmers are making a come back. We run out of styles so everything has to get recyled back around! But boy I never wanted to see leg warmers again!

My DH and I both thought it looked like an outfit from Star Trek. Maybe that is the look that they were going for??? A 70's Star Trek look.:rotfl:

EDIT: Haha WillCAD, I just saw your post. I guess DH and I weren't too far off.

Here's a pic of me in the office cafeteria a few years ago.

Tacky '70s attire??? I resemble that remark intensely! :rotfl2:

Oh my -- dare I tell you about my cat glasses??? But I was actually a kid then.

Anyway ... someone was right about the cold computer rooms! Which is why we wore leggings and boots! By the time I was in the computer room, it was the early 80s though. Oh how excited we were to get the disk and drives that held 100 megabytes! It was round about the size of vinyl records (yes dating myself there too!) and about 5 platters stacked. Probably weighed 5-7 pounds. I was thankful we didn't have to haul it in and out of the disk drive that often!!!!!!!!!!! The disk drive was the size of two mini-refrigerators stacked.

And whoo hoo :woohoo: those 8 inch floppy disks! Imagine the portability of saving data on a disk. But it was a big step up from the mag card reader ... ok?? Imagine what the next 30 years will bring??? Oh yes ... it will bring those tacky 70 fashions back around again.

There was this little thing called BELL BOTTOMS too! :thumbsup2

Yes! She was very disctracting! I couldn't stop staring at her freakishly small feet on a normal sized body and kept wondering where on earth the imagineers found those hideous pleather boots! It was like they had to make SURE you knew it was the 70s by having this crazy 70s outfit.

I had this moment a few years ago. I'm thinking wow this grocery store is awesome; Peter Gabriel, Thomas Dolby, Missing Persons, B-52a, etc. this is a great playlist. I wonder who put it together. Then it hit me, 'Oh crap, I'm the demographic now.'

I guess you can have that moment again since you brought up a thread that's over 10 years old.
