Farewell to my dog, Bella...I miss her already

This morning my family made the difficult decision to put down Bella, our 14 year dog who fooled everyone on her breed.

I know in time it will get easier, but not hearing the presence of her in the house is so sad.

For all of you out there who have pets, give them a hug for me, it's going to be to tough going without my canine companion after all these years.

I know how you feel! We had to put our dog down too and it was one of the hardest things we have ever done. I know how difficult it is, but time does help. We have not gotten another dog, but would advise doing that if you want that option. It seems to help some people, but we chose not to get another pet. Just know you are not alone in missing your little loved one.

Thanks. I'm sure after a while we'll adopt another dog. The vet who came today said she looked great for 14 years old, but she lost her mobility completely, was having seizures and in the last day had developed abnormal eye movements that caused her to fall from sitting position.

You have my extreme sympathy sorry that you’re having to go through this having done this so many times it’s so painful I always say I’m not gonna get another dog I usually last three days and then I’m looking for another dog and everyone says why did you get another dog because I love the companionship I just don’t like how it ends
I am very sorry for your loss I know words cannot make you feel any better but you did do the right thing even though it hurts so very much I’ve had two pets that I had to put down for the same reason didn’t make it feel any better but I didn’t want them suffering I wish they could do something to make dogs live a whole lot longer than they do and a whole lot healthier I cherish the time we have with them I hope you can find some peace! You have a very beautiful dog❤️

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a member of your family is never easy. 💗

I'm sorry for your loss. We lost a cat about 18 months ago, plus I walk dogs/pet sit and in the last few years, a few of my client pups have passed. It's so hard. You love them and care for them, and then they're gone.

I'm sure you were a good doggy parent and gave your Bella the best life possible. My sincerest condolences.

Very sorry to hear about Bella, Rogue.'s It sure looks like she really liked Stitch there in your photo. Too cute.

Do remember, Rogue, Bella is there at the Bridge with many others, romping with them all...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge, together....

Thanks. My daughter put the Stitch blanket on Bella whenever she barked while I was on work calls and she would quiet down. Plus, she loved anything soft and fuzzy to snuggle with.

She was such an amazing dog, she would put things in the recycle bin, alert me when I was going to have a seizure (she wasn't a service dog), and always knew how to make us smile.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's clear that Bella had a magical life full of love. Thank you for adopting her and for knowing that you will honor her memory in the future by adopting another dog.
