I (I mean my DD) :teeth: am sooo disappointed in the Slurpee machine ! I returned one and got another and it's still junk ! The part that turns and makes the pop & ice into a slushie, stops turning after a couple of minutes and never makes the slurpee :confused3 has anyone else bought one and had any luck with it !?

We have been through.....let's see now....a slurpy machine (total junk!), cotton candy maker (another piece of junk and messy, too), the Chocolate Factory (a waste of money), easy bake oven (the food taste horrible)

My DD (8) LOVES all those commercials for those so-called kiddie food maker things and my mother just can't say no! I refuse to buy any of those things anymore! I will take her to 7-11 and get a slushie!! :)

Got it last year & yes it is junk. Also own the McFlurry Maker & also not worth the hassle. I had to pretend I couldn't hear when they asked for the Smores Maker this year! :music:

My DH always trys for the kids though. They seem to think it still is something wonderful. :confused3

My son got it for Christmas. Ours has worked just fine. We followed the directions step by step. I have used soda and juice and they both slush up. Did you add salt to the ice? This keeps the ice separated.

We tried three different slushie machines. The one we finally got that works is a Rival from Walmart for $14.99, it isn't "kiddie" or cute, but at least it works.

Yep, did everything step by step to no avail !! I agree about most of the food machines being junk, but I guess I had high hopes for this one.

Ceecee, I'll try the walmart one, thanks for the tip :teeth:

Yep we got one... It works fine... Just make sure you are putting enough salt in the ice... Plus make sure you are not using drinks with artificial sweetener...

my nephew got one after Xmas and after having problems, returned it for another with more problems. So I think it's hit or miss. When they work - they're great, but it sounds like there may be some manufacturing issues with them in general.

Dont have one, but thought Id mention that I do have a snowcone machine (bought at walmart)and we love it!! We bought it at the end of the summer 2004 and it was marked down.. I think the normal price was around $27 so even at full price it wasnt bad at all.. We have made countless snowcones with it.. It was in the summer section, not the toy section.. and walmart sells the snowcone flavor syrups for like $1.88-- I usually go the end of the summer and pick up a bunch of flavors when they go on clearance.. I got bunches last year for $1 and some for 50 cents for a big bottle.. We have used it for 2 birthday parties and use it on the weekends alot especially when the kids have friends over..

DS got one for Christmas, went right back to the store. Piece of junk..Did not replace it

Is this the one with the hand crank???? OMG, that gives your arms a work out. I think my DD used her's twice. She'd get about to 4 revolutions and then I'd have to do it. 10 minutes later a semi slushy product. Not worth the effort. Our's went to the give away shed at the dump. Along with the crayon maker, chocolate candy maker (chocolate never got hot enough), oh, and strinky dink maker (which worked, but DD had no interest in....so much for my childhood wishlist)

I am sorry to hear this.

You might not be able to make slurpees, but if it is any consolation, that is a really cute cat you have. :teeth:

We got the smores maker. Well first we didnt have the right bulb so while the kids 'cooked' there marshmellows we made a wonderful example of how to play with the hot stove to actually get them cooked. We were holding them over the hot burner. Anyway fastforward....after 2 trips looking at various stores for the 'available at most stores' very specific type of lightbulb. we finally got to use our cooker. You slide the sticks in the holder and sit there...there is no fire or anything fun to look at (you cant even see the bulb) you cant really turn the sticks...atleast the kids couldnt....and you wait (and this is after already letting it warm as directed) and you wait and you wait. and nothing happens. finally after about 10 minutes - like i said there is nothing they can do with it while it is cooking - I check it and my sons is somewhat squishy my dd's isnt. so i make him a smore and she 'cooks' hers a little longer and then says she doesnt care if it gets squishy. she eats hers forced on the cracker resulting in broken cracker mess. I dont se any realy way it would 'brown' it just doesnt get very hot. (plus side my kids have never never liked smores or marshmellow roasting at parties because the marshmellows get brown and ooh yuck) SO then I ask if they want to make another. No thank you we'll just eat some marshmellows plain. That thing may be GONE the first chance I get.

whoever it was that said the easy bake food tasted bad....have you tried using jiffy mix in it. We did but we put too much in the pan...gotta be careful about that.

DD got one for christmas, and it works great! I agree w/ the other poster who said must be a manufacture thing.
Ours works so well :Pinkbounc that DD is already counting the DISNEY DOLLERS she's gonna make off the neighborhood this summer!
I wont tell her how popular it was for christmas,...who new?? A least she has one thing going for her...most of them do not work and her does! :teeth:

We bought one it was junk. We put salt in and tried everything. The last thing we put in was apple juice. Even after 20 minutes of spinning nothing happened.

Before Christmas I was standing in the store debating whether or not to buy DS the Smores maker. While standing in line I was reading the box which said I needed some sort of spaecial light bulb. I figured by the time I bought the light bulb and all the ingredinets needed it wasn't worth it. So I put it back. After reading these posts I know I made a good decision...all of these gadgets sound like too much of a hassle.

My inlaws got DD one for Christmas. It didn't have the crank but took batteries. Well after I put NEW batteries in, added the ice and salt, turned the machine on - NOTHING (no noise, movement, or anything). Went to check the batteries and had to dump everything out. DD was so upset.

They got it at Target (on sale for $18) so I went online and noticed the 2 reviews on how it didn't work so I decided to return it for my money back. The week after Christmas, I went to Target and the girl just laughed. I thought she was laughing because I had it in a bag with no box. She told me it was the 5th one that she saw returned since Christmas but heard of more from other people.

We decided to get the old fashioned snow cone machine on the Walmart website (I had a gift card I used towards it). This thing is so cool and can make TONS of snow cones. We LOVE it. I hightly recommend it as you can make snow cones or use it for slushies. The shaved ice it produces is great and the clean up is easy; not to mention all the compliments we get on it. We're going to use it next Saturday for DD's birthday party as well...

Check it out on the website, you won't be disappointed:

I bought the slurpee machine bf Christmas. I got a real deal on it. I bought so much other stuff, however, I decided to save it and give it to DD for her birthday. I hope mine works. I know I won't be taking that back. On the lines of useless stuff. How about that Lab thingy. That was a BIG waste of money. Was anyone out there able to make the gummies? That one did go back.

I have to say that we have never had much luck with any of those things. We have the slussy one,the smores, easy bake,no bake, cotton candy, ice cream,2 milk shake makers(different ones)all have been used once or twice.I think all they do is make a big mess. They wanted the chocolate maker and the mc flurry maker but this year I skipped buying them and told them Santa can't bring everything you put on your list.It was soon forgotten and I had them at Toys r us last weekend and they walked right by the things without asking for them.I am not buying anymore of these things.Easter is coming and I know I had saw a peeps maker I am keeping the kids away from the toy isle...haha
