Did Adam Lambert just kill his career before it even started?

I thought the sound was off on a lot of the performances, but I'm pretty sure that after he fell (great recovery, Adam) he kind of lost control of his performance. And his voice. I doubt he planned all the super theatrics at the end. I didn't care for the choreography, and felt sorry for the dancers. I don't think they spent a lot of time putting this together.

I've been a huge fan ever since his audition episode, but it occurs to me that maybe Adam doesn't want me for a fan. Not exactly his demographic if you go by the performance last night. His album is coming, and I hope I like it or it at least will grow on me.

But do I think his career is over? Not by a long shot. His album sales won't drop by much, though it would naturally slow down after the release. Besides, there's always Europe and Japan.

Did anyone notice that JLo fell too? And I loved Kelly, didn't even realize that was her song. I'll go to iTunes for that one!

I thought it was really crappy and kissing a dude who I didn't even know was a dude wasn't the reason, for me. I thought it was incredibly boring for such a large production. Don't care for the song, the singing, or the screeching either.

I guess Adam is going to be one of those performers who you either love or hate. I think he's awesome.

I have the opportunity to see him live on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday. Provided I can wake up that early, I will certainly be there.

I had seen Adam Lambert on AI a few times because I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I feel he is a very fake person and kept dodging rumors until AI was over. Come on...man up. Then he goes ALL OUT and on the cover of rolling stone and all of these crazy pictures show up etc.

His voice was bad, it was not the sound. I don't feel his voice is very POP either. I am sure on Broadway he would be amazing, wasn't he in Wicked?

The simulated Oral was where I said...Disney ain't gonna be happy with that. If he would have sung better, I would not have minded so much but he was all over the place and when he kissed the guy, it was for shock and looked like he hurt him, like it wasn't really planned. THAT doesn't bother me, but HE does. I never liked him and I think HE thinks he is the greatest performer and he isn't. It was not an AMA performance it would have been better on the MTV awards than on ABC.

Lady Gaga is definately out there....but her performance last night was not sexually graphic as Adam's was. I said in another thread even my gay friends who watched were grossed out and said, people like him give other gay people a bad name. They LOVE performance art but what he did was gross.

Love him and wasn't disgusted in the least. Don't like this particular song though. Hope the rest of the album is better :goodvibes

I liked Adam (except for the screeching) on American Idol.

I didn't watch the award show last night, so did just now go watch the youtube video and I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I really didn't see anything that offensive. The kiss? Well, he is gay, right? No big deal. And as for him not sounding that great, I think that's the way it is with a lot of singers on these award shows. Some of them need the tweaking that is done in the studio to make them sound better.

I didn't watch the show either but they were talking about this on WGN radio this morning so I had to see what it was all about.

The kiss isn't what seemed to bother most but him grabbing the guy crawling on his knees and pulling it toward his groin did. The simulation wasn't really necessary.

I'm not sure what point he was trying to make when he gave everyone the finger?

I find it very, very sad that people are more accepting of two women kissing on stage than two men. What's with the double-standard??? :confused3 I mean seriously, in THIS day and age??? Heck, I'd think it'd be as acceptable as a man and a woman kissing, given some of the other stuff that goes on nowadays. Sheesh.

hear hear. I am digusted that people are disgusted by two men kissing. I can understand where some might be bothered by the crotch thing, but the kissing?? Seriously? Give me a break!

I just bought his album for my iphone. One mediocre performance will not change my opinion of him. He's my favorite Idol performer from all seasons.

Me too, tied with Constantine and Clay Aiken

all I got out of it was seeing a bunch of fake "edginess" and a complete lack of talent. Other than that it wasn't offensive...I can't believe there are still people who would get upset about any of the things done in that performance. But I can see being annoyed that someone with no talent has a record contract. that I understand.

I haven't heard or read anybody say that. It's okay for women to do it, but not men, where did anyone say that specifically? I personally don't care for anyone to be kissing anyone else on stage when they are suppose to be singing. Kissing isn't performing to me, anyone can do that.

I never said anyone here said it. I have seen numerous people say it elsewhere online today, and it is ignorant and sad.

So why bring it up here, when no said that here? :confused3 When you post it here, you make it sound as though that is what has been said, when it has not.

I posted it here because this is a topic about it. I never implied it was said by anyone here. You inferred that. :confused3 I see no reason to change my post or feel bad about posting it here. It is merely a discussion about a topic. No one ever said people could only talk about things that happen here. I am baffled by this response.

Anyhoo I said my piece on the topic, so adios! :)

I stayed up way past my bedtime just to see Adam's performance and I was not disappointed! Big Adam fan here!

I watched it. I don't see the big deal. It was no worse than the Madonna thing where she kissed Brittney Spears. Was it his best? No. Adam is an amazingly talented guy. That song did not show his best by any means, but I certainly don't think it is a career killer. I've already purchased his American Idol songs from ITunes. I'll be buying his CD.

As for kids watching, I really don't think kids should watch these type shows. Too many things have happened in the past on these type of shows that prove them to be not kid friendly.

I havent watched it yet. I will when I get home just to see what the fuss is all about. I never liked Adam on AI. All his screaching gets on my nerves. So I cannot imagine I will like the song. But I really dont care if he kissed another dude. I am sure it was just for shock value. Just like Madonna and Britney. Doesnt bother me.

I watched the first 2 minutes on Ytube and then I turned it off. It just wasn't something I would ever listen to (or watch). I would be upset if my tween daughters saw that.

I was NOT insulted by the kissing (although ouch!!) but the simulation was what got me. When exactly was Brittany and Madona and who has done that since? When was Michael & Elvis's daughter, before or after? I haven't heard of another "incident" like that and I'm thinking maybe because it didn't go over like everyone hoped. Don't jump on the flaming bandwagon because I could care less who kisses who . Just don't think its "thrilling" on a music stage.

I think he knew it was going to bomb so he created these theatrics. Again, just my opinion.

As far as children seeing that, American Idol is as much for the tween/teen set as it is for adults so while my dd11 didn't watch the awards she does know of him and would POSSIBLY like that song, (not knowing his real intention/meaning of the song of course) now forgetaboutit. I think he lost some fans, again while this isn't his music video, I can't imagine the video for ITUNES will be that much better.
