Did Adam Lambert just kill his career before it even started?

Wow, I never watched Adam Lambert on AI but from this thread I had to check it out, just to see if I have slipped into prude territory or can still appreciate a performance even if it's not to my personal taste. Like some others, I was expecting porn.

IS THAT ALL??? LOL - really, there wasn't anything any worse than we've seen a million times before from the entertainers already named. Britney did a lot of the same thrusts in her show and my girls said even Milety Cyrus did it a lot in her show last night.

I thought the sound mix was bad, though. Liked the song -- it is instantly readable and I can see it being a hit. And the performance? Nothing I haven't seen before on TV.

Funny that people think it's so risque!

Ehhh, we have all seen these moves before ( well not the kiss lol), M.J. and Madonna were much better at it.

Actually we've seen the kiss before too, Madonna and Brittany. I am an Adam fan, and I've seen him live and I can say he has a fantastic voice. I did not watch the rest of the awards, but I know at the CMA's there are always some people that sound awful (who I have heard live and I know can sing better). This perfromance was a little over the top, but hey, that's Adam. I guess the CD sales tomorrow will tell if that killed his career, but I highly doubt it.

I don't see it as that much of a big deal, its really no different from alot of other performances these days, and no I don't think this killed is career at all, probably just the opposite.

Blech. Not a fan and never have been. I didn't think the choreography was THAT awful, just extremely, extremely contrived. Which I guess in turn made it pretty awful. Oh, and he sounded horrible; the drawn-out screeching at the end made my skin crawl. But that's me.

That being said, AL's performance was not shocking as compared to his peers. This seems to be the norm these days, especially on award shows.

I just watched his performance too. Unless there's some other video segment I missed, this just reminds me of Madonna's S & M period during her "Justify My Love" period. So, Lambert did some male crotch move. I don't see that as being considered worse than Michael Jackson grabbing his own crotch and singing "Hee-Hee!" And children did see that.

I agree - I was expecting something completely out there and while it was a bit over the top it wasn't as bad as some here are saying.

Now his singing was awful, but that's another story.

I find it very, very sad that people are more accepting of two women kissing on stage than two men. What's with the double-standard??? I mean seriously, in THIS day and age??? Heck, I'd think it'd be as acceptable as a man and a woman kissing, given some of the other stuff that goes on nowadays. Sheesh.

I just watched it on my DVR.

He sounded the same vocally as AI to me except it was a dumb song. I couldn't stand him on AI, I can't stand him now. I was SO happy when he didn't win.

The dancing was stupid and vulgar just the way he wanted it.

I didn't particularly like the the oral sex simulation myself. Pulling on the girl's crotch string was just really stupid.

It was just a great big mess.

Never cared for him on AI and that hot mess certainly didn't win me over. I like performers who can actually sing. At least when Paula Abdul did Coldhearted Snake she could really dance!

I really don't see what the big deal is with him to begin with. I think he's very creepy looking & acting, which completely overshadows any bit of talent he has. The crazy hair, the over-the-top makeup... Meh, enough already.

She never much impressed me either...riding a lot on her late brother's coattails, if you ask me...

I am actually embarrassed for him. The singing was terrible and the song was not even catchy. I have been a fan since AI (my kids both love him too) BUT if this is what I am going to see in the future, I think I will save my $ and buy someone elses CD. I thought the choreography was for pure shock value and a REAL turn off. blech.

I liked Adam (except for the screeching) on American Idol.

I didn't watch the award show last night, so did just now go watch the youtube video and I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I really didn't see anything that offensive. The kiss? Well, he is gay, right? No big deal. And as for him not sounding that great, I think that's the way it is with a lot of singers on these award shows. Some of them need the tweaking that is done in the studio to make them sound better.

I don't get what all the fuss is about..was he any worse than Janet Jackson grabbing herself?..was he any worse than Lady GaGa and her half dressed dancers?..was he any worse than Shakira and her gyrating (and that of her dancers)..any worse than Britney kissing Madonna?..I think the answer to all of those is NO..granted, the choreography wasn't that great, but it was pretty similar to a lot of the other acts..and I didn't think his voice sounded any more 'off' than a lot of the others last nite..what is it with Awards shows and their sound systems..you would think the music ones especially would be a lot better (I had a lot of complaints about the system at the CMA's last week too)..some of them sounded like they were singing into tin cans..
And once you take out the choreography, the fumbles, and listen to the song..it's not all that bad!..in my opinion anyhow..
it won't stop me from being an Adam fan, it won't stop me from buying his cd's or watching him on tv..and I don't think he did anything to hurt his career last nite either!
