I don't see how buyng a case of pampers on ebay for 9.99 and paying 25.00 for shipping is a bargain. They are less in the stores, esp with a sale. I jsut don't get it?? Am I missing something?

I also don't get why people will pay $96 (plus shipping and insurance) for a $100 gift card.

I think some people fall into the trap of "I've got to win this thing!" and they continue to bid past what's reasonable -- it becomes competative to them on a personal level, and they won't allow another person to "beat them". Or, they forget to consider the cost of shipping when they're bidding.

I have one idea...........some people take the money that they make off selling their merchandise on Ebay, and turn around and buy things off Ebay with that money that they made. It's easy to do when you have a Paypal account. In that case it's sorta like "free money", money that someone got from selling something they didn't need.
just a thought

Lots of things don't make sense on ebay, though I've often been the seller of items that sold for phenomenally more than I thought they should so I'm not going to complain. As long as the item is accurately described so that the buyers know exactly what they are bidding on, who am I to question it?

In some states some things like diapers are much more expensive. When I moved to WA from NC I was very surprised that 16.99 was considered a "sale" on Huggies when I was used to 7.99 being a sale. I quickly switched to a store brand, where in NC it was cheaper to buy Huggies with a coupon. I have listed Swim diapers on ebay and sold them for about what I paid because I didn't need them (my baby outgrew them before I used them).

I have seen some "vintage" diapers in packaging sell for quite a bit. I remember reading that some movie/photographers need them for the time frame of the film/picture.

But there will probably be a sucker who'll buy these items. Why? Beause they see the sell price and miss the shipping price?

There is never a rhyme or reason as to what sells or doesn't on ebay. I have had things that I just put up to get rid of and was amazed at what they sold for. Then there are things that I thought would go for a lot more then it did. You just never can tell.

But do you do so with no regard to the price you are paying for the items? Probably not.
I think some people figure it's on ebay so it must be a good deal. I also know some folks who shop online because they are just too lazy to go to the store and they don't care if they could get the item cheaper in person. They'd rather pay for the convenience of having it delivered to their door.

Some people have paypal accounts but don't have their bank accounts linked to it, so the only way to spend the money is to purchase things that take paypal online (i.e. ebay items). I know at one point I didn't have my bank account linked, so I would sell items and then turn around and purchase things with my earnings. I would sometimes buy gift cards for a dollar less than the face value.

This is one of my biggest complaints about ebay. Lots of sellers jack up shipping prices to pad their profit and avoid paying ebay fees (since no fee is paid on the shipping price). And I guess there just isn't any way for ebay to regulate this.

When I sell, I always charge only actual postage because I know how much I hate being overcharged when I'm the buyer. There is some cost for shipping materials but I figure that into the item price, not into the shipping charge.
