We are visiting Disney at the end of August (probably Aug 24 for dhs) and wondering if anyone has managed dhs without genie? We will be staying onsite so will have early entry. Here is my rough plan, let me know if you think it is doable:

- rope drop rise
- slinky
- tsmm
- explore GE, meet and greets, food, shows
- ogas
- 5pm: ride mmrr
- smugglers run
- tot before park close

After planning everything out, dhs really doesn’t seem like more than a one day park and I think we can do this with some low waits as mmrr and smugglers run waits tend to drop in the evening. Let me know your thoughts and personal experiences!!

On my May trip I did two HS days, one with Genie and one without. We left the park at around 11 on the non Genie day since every single ride had over an hour wait by 10. Since HS is so small and doesn't have a lot of rides, the waits get insane really quickly. I think your plan is doable as long as Rise doesn't go down during early entry, which is common. It went down during early entry on both of my HS days, but we had the ILL so we weren't rope dropping it.

On the non Genie day, we did Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster twice, Rise and Smuggler's with a minimal wait (had a LL for Rise).

Tower of Terror also doesn't drop in wait time at night even right before park close so you will most likely still have a long wait. That is because only one side of the elevators are running (they are doing repairs on one side) and obviously they will prioritize the LL over standby up until the park closes.

We did in early May. Arrived for early entry and had everything we wanted done by 12:30. Bought an iLL$ for Rise. Everything was a walk on or 15 min wait or less except one ride. The order of attack was key...

ToT...walk on
RnRC...walk on
Slinky...15 min
TSMM...10 min
MMRR...15 min
breakfast at Rontos
Rise...iLL$
Smugglers Run...45 min
Star Tours...walk on

If you rope drop Rise and are off before regular park entry, I would head towards another mid-tier attraction like MMRR, Smugglers, or Toy Story. Slinky will already be at a 70 minute wait by the time you get off Rise, so may as well wait in that queue in the middle of the day if that is your plan. Other rides will have lower than normal waits during early entry so you should take advantage of those. We got off rise with 5 minutes to spare before regular park entry and booked it over to MMRR with less than a 10 minute wait. Plan to be at the front gate one hour or so before early entry to be at the front of the rope drop pack.

This is not necessarily correct. The posted wait time at Tower may not drop, but the actual wait does. Just last week, we found an 80 minute posted wait close to closing time but the actual wait was less than 10.

We were able to ride Rise twice and Tower once in just under an hour and a half. Not too bad.

That's very true. That was the case for Rise. I hopped on at around 8:30 and was at the preshow in 20 minutes despite the posted wait being 65. I didn't get to ride since the ride went down and they cleared the queue.

I was just giving a warning of Tower of Terror having a potentially long wait since only one side is working at the moment.

I would rope drop TOT since one car is open. Ride times never really went down during the day for it. ROTR posted time said 60 and 45 minutes near end of the night and it was definitely shorter wait time-maybe 20 minutes.

The only attraction we found to have an actual wait anywhere close to the posted wait in the evening was Flight of Passage. That’s probably because AK closes so early.
