I respectfully disagree. Can you provide a link to any credible source to back this up?
Why I disagree -
- Disney just does not remove important items and then rebuild them elsewhere on Disney property. Are they sentimental? Yes. They saved some 20,000 Leagues water and added it to Under the Sea water upon opening. In Winnie the Pooh is a picture of Mr. Toad handing the deed to Owl. But to remove something and they put it back up elsewhere on property - no.
- The permit to take out the hat has one description "Demolition". Disney does not use this term lightly. It does not say dismantle or removal, it says demolition.
- Have you seen the Hat lately? It was not in great shape which is no surprise since it was not supposed to be up this long. Lots of rust spots bubbling up under the paint all over it, especially the back side by the theater. It was going to need major restorative work.
- Have you been to Studios to see the beginning of the demolition? They are treating it as a demo......
It was built in horizontal sections, stacked and bolted together. They are removing by working in these approximate sections but they are not upbolting it (to preserve) but are cutting it. The cuts are not on the seams, they are uneven, working as fast as possible for removal.
Not only are they cutting it horizontally they are cutting it up vertically within each section into smaller pieces. If they were preserving it they would not do the vertical cuts. It anything it seems these vertical cuts creating smaller chunks is to insure it is demolished and not usable before it ever leaves the park.
All the cuts are uneven and jagged and done without care. The edges show bending of the metal (can opener effect), essentially making it impossible to put it back together.
If there were any chance of the Hat reappearing it would have to be a whole new hat and that just makes no sense.
Nice to see facts.
