DHS NextGen

Wouldn't it be cool to have you picture taken when you're on Spaceship Earth and then other rides you go on that day bring back that picture to automatically include in the ride? You could see yourself swiming along with Nemo.

Hmmm,
Putting them in at shows now? Fantasmic is such a cluster that any improvment would be welcome.
I'm thinking the Muppets now. What they could do would be near limitless.

true, but I cant see how they can do any kind of interactive queue for Fantasmic with the queue being so disorderly! Its just a huge mass of people, not a single file queue like rides have.

I think for Fantasmic they're more likely talking about some kind of VIP viewing area again like the Jim Hill article suggests is being considered for parades.

Possibly changing dinner package seating to Xpass seating

I have seen this posted a few places recently and I am wondering how the connection is being made between the work description on the permits "queue modifications" to NextGen. Is there some additional insider knowledge or is someone just assuming that "queue modifications" = NextGen? I've been looking through the recent permits and there are a bunch of "queue modification" permits, not just for DHS, but also for AK and Epcot.

Nextgen is many things - it likely includes the RFID enhancements and XPass, but it also includes things like the reworked Haunted Mansion queue, etc. (i.e. things to see and do while you are waiting for the attraction). Adding RFID features to such queue enhancements can plus them even more.

they've announced the nextgen project havent they?

everything else including the xpass name is just rumour I believe?

I'm not even sure "Nextgen" is an official name, or even if it was used internally. XPass seems official, although the name could change before it is released.

I just checked though...there is no trademark on file for "XPass", just an old abandoned one.

Nextgen is just the short name, the full name is Next Generation Experience - which has definitely been mentioned by disney.

Nextgen references have also been found on disney sites apparently.

Thats close enough to official for me :)

Let me rephrase.

Disney themselves has not confirmed the Xpass or any specific details about what they are planning for a next gen fastpass. Or have they?

Staggs announced that guests would be able to make reservations for attractions like is now done for dining. That is the ONLY confirmation, and it could be a poor analogy. The details have NOT been released yet, or we'd be all over it discussing strategies, impacts, fairness how we could improve it here... :)

Thanks. Thats what i wanted to know.

whilst we seem to have two threads both discussing what Disney has confirmed for their next big projects (NextGen + Avatar land), lets also remember they also confirmed Hyperion Wharf ;) and for that project they got as far as filing permits, issuing estimate job creation numbers and extensive artwork...

didn't they also tear down a couple things, and replace it with grass? :)
