I went to DHS today for the first time since ALL the walls were put up.

It's one thing to read about the walls, but entirely another thing to EXPERIENCE them.

It is going to be awesome when everything is finished, but, for right now,WOW,JUST WOW!

Same impacts were experienced in recent years by visitors to MK and AK. I know many do not like the appearance, especially impacting photos, and making moving around the park sometimes a challenge. But with improvements comes impacts, of which walls are one of them. Since to me they represent progress and new additions to the park, I accept them for what they are and why they are needed.

No wall pictures, WED?

meh i assume its not much different than MK was for quite some time. (don't go to AK much so haven't experienced it there).

Do we have an estimate on when either of the new lands will be up and running?

Walking from Dinoland USA to Africa by way of Asia (AKA the long way around) was a killer last November (because AK is ultimately hotter than any other park). I can't imagine what a summer day would have been like. Lots of cute snack stops along the way but absolutely not enough seating due to "the wall" around the new ROL seating area. No stone had been left unturned - literally stones were the only places to sit for a respite. There are a few tables but not enough to accommodate the number of guests at that time. Just Keep Swimming was out motto of the day. After that, we decided to use out FP+ for the Safari and get the heck out of the cluster. I totally get the jarring feeling of walled off areas. At least make sure there is enough seating for resting, eating and getting out of the heat. I do hope that DHS is a little better in this aspect.

No estimate, but I will be shocked if they are fully opened and operational before 2021. I'm sure there will be certain attractions/areas they open up in a few years, to keep things interesting, but all of it? It will be a long, long wait.

Yes! That was exactly how I felt on my visit in September! I definitely was saying that in my head over and over again (although it was worse the year before)

I totally agree with the AK comments. We really felt closed in and impacted at AK when the walls were up. I would say that did actually impact our enjoyment way more than I thought it would. Maybe part of that is because AK is much more of a "nature" park. We never felt that way at MK. Even though there were a lot of walls at MK, we never felt like we were closed in or that our experience was impacted much. We were at CA at DLR when they had the whole front part basically shut down for remodeling and that was odd, but still not as bad as AK. DHS feels like such a small park, I would guess it will definitely be a bit of an adjustment. Based on our CA experience (which to me has a similar feel to DHS), I wouldn't expect it to be as bad as AK felt though.

The difference in MK and DAK construction periods is the amount of DEAD END WALLS at DHS!:)

With all the areas closed and so many attractions closed is DHS really an all day park right now and I'm sure this makes the lines for the other main attractions even longer? I'm going the first week of August.

Are the walls down at AK now? If not, is there a time estimate? We skipped Disney last year and I feel very out of the loop as far as changes and updates.

Thanks!

When the walls were up at MK there was still a TON of park to go to, most without walls, thats not the case at DHS right now.

Excited for the final product (though disappointed it wont be bigger/ sooner).

All of the RoL walls are finally down.

There are some walls by Flame Tree, some on the left side of the Tree of Life and the Avatarland walls-those are the only ones I remember-DAK is looking much better.

Thanks. We're going in July and AK is already such a hot, sweaty place I didn't want to have to take the long way around to get places.

We just returned from an 8 day trip - spent two very long and full days at DHS - rope drop to fireworks. We were never bored or lacked for things to do.

DHS is our favorite park! We go about once a week. We don't ride RnR or ToT. We haven't gotten bored or sick of it yet. We rarely saw the stunt show, so it's disappearance hasn't been missed by us. I do miss Watto's Grotto. We rarely ever went to the Honey I Shrunk playground. So we haven't missed that either. The Backlot Tour has been closed a couple years, so that's not new. Nothing has been in the Premiere Theater since Frozen moved to the Hyperion Theater.

Roaming the streets is done with. Didn't use them anyway after Mulch, Sweat and Shears left.

We rarely ate at Studio Catering and never ate at Mama Melrose.

Except for the visible walls, the new construction has very little effect on my DHS day.

After the pictures and posts I saw from friends at the media event I'm excited for the future of DHS!
