DH so nervous. Any suggestions?

I don't understand why they are bothering with the JP. In North Carolina, any ordained minister of any faith who is authorized to perform marriages by his church may do so. He is ordained and the Universal Life Church Monastery has authorized him to perform marriages, so he's good to go. All he'll need to do is complete the marriage license and file it with to the register of deeds who issued it.

As far as guidance goes, the ULCM's website actually has some pretty good info.

Well for starters, none of the family understands much of what my sister wants either. :lmao:

My sister does NOT live in North Carolina. But that's not the issue anyway.

My sister is INSISTENT that her actual wedding DATE be on my (now deceased) grandmother's birthday. That particular day happens to be a MONDAY (in July). She can't hold her wedding party on a Monday, so she and her fiance had to choose another day. The place she INSISTS on holding the wedding at was completely booked with the exception of one Saturday in June. So she is holding the wedding party and a short ceremony (one might call it a "mock" wedding ceremony) on that day in June. Then she and her beloved will wait until the end of July to go to the JoP so she can have her legal marriage DATE be the same as my grandmother's birthday.

Everyone following so far?

So when planning this bizarro affair, my sister got wind of my DH's status with the ULCM and thought "Hey! Wouldn't it be awesome/cute/fabu if BIL did the ceremony?? Wouldn't that be HILARIOUS??" :rotfl2: :sad2:

My sister marches to the beat of her own drum. I'm not even sure if they're drums. They might be giant cymbals....or maybe a Caliope. :rockband:

SO here is my family trying desperately to keep a straight face and smile and tell her "That sounds just lovely!" every time she comes up with some new crazy THING she simply MUST have in her wedding. She isn't a bridezilla, but I imagine if there was going to be a wedding of Alice and The Mad Hatter (my sister being the Hatter), this is what it would be like.:ccat:
