As a British Serviceman who has returned myself, have a great time together on your upcoming vacation. PS Kuwait is a dump so was Camp Udari.
A big thank you to you as well! Our UK friends really came through!

What wonderful news - Congratulations and thanks to your DH for his service in the Middle East! Like others have mentioned, we never get time without the kids, so can't speak first hand about romantic places, but it seems like I read many people think Artist Pointe at WL is a very romantic place with excellent food. We're taking family with us in June 2004 and are hoping to have someone watch our kids so we can try it out! Have a great time making plans - I bet it'll be almost as much fun as figuring out how to use points:p

Looks like Disney 4 Ever and I are on the same page. That would DEFINATELY be my recommendation. A private illuminations cruise with just the two of you, champagne, etc............sounds great to me.

We want to extend our THANKS your husband and your entire family for his service to our Country----Love the USA and all our troops and citizens!!!!!!!!!! Happy day for everyone. I am sooooooo happy for you.:) :) :Pinkbounc and all the smilies in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What great news! :) So glad to hear more soldiers are coming home. A BIG thank you to your DH and family and all the other military families from the US and UK.

As far as something special all the ideas sound great. I'm sure no matter what you pick it'll be special b/c you'll be together.

Have fun and enjoy!

I wonder if WDW would do anything special for military personnel who just came back and their families. Your DH deserves it. I hope they will.

I am so very happy for you and your family. I did not read all the posts so if this is a repeat I am sorry. V&A would be very romantic. Also the poly luau would be a lot of fun, a chance to laugh, and then a romantic walk along the poly beach while the MK fireworks are being set off, possibly a bottle of wine or champange.

No matter what you do, I am sure it will be a night the both of you will always remember.

Good luck, god bless.

You Go Girl.....:D :D :D :D :D :D

Have a great vacation.

I know that whatever you decide should be great because you have your husband back safe and sound. A big thanks to him and all others who put themselves in harm's way to protect the rest of us. We are awaiting the return of a family friend serving in Iraq with the 3rd Infantry and hope that all those serving wil return safely and quickly.

That's AWESOME NEWS!!!! WOO-HOO !

I remember waiting in the airport hangar at Fort Campbell for my husband's plane after the first Gulf War! The "announcer" thought it would be funny to tell all of us that the plane was delayed several hours!!!! I never heard such groaning in my life!!! But 5 minutes later they touched down!

After 8 months apart I almost didn't recognize DH he was sooooo dark from being in the dessert for so long! But then I saw his blue eyes from the "holding pit" where the wives were standing and the rest was history...

I laughed when I read Coach Rick's comment about your husband seeing a lot of sand lately. To this day I can't get my DH to go camping--said he did ENOUGH of that to last a life time!!

Enjoy your time together!!!!! Disney should be a GREAT place to de-stress after everything he's been through.

Please thank him for us! And THANK YOU too!!!! Your sacrafice was every bit as real and I'm grateful!

Have a blast!
~Laura

God really did watch over your family. Hope your trip is the greatest. And thank your DH for protecting us.

Lacool, I haven't posted in forever - I'm a moderator on another board called Marine Moms Online (even though I'm a dad), and that eats up leisure computer time. But, I read your post and just had to respond with a hearty CONGRATULATIONS!

Our son is still in N. Iraq (as far as we know - haven't heard from him personally in three or four weeks) - serving us as a brother to your husband in the United States Marine Corps. Our pride knows no bounds! And, when he *finally* gets home, he'll get a hero's welcome from us, just like I'm sure your husband will.

Actually, I'm guessing your husband will get a different kind of welcome! ;)

At any rate, this is great news.

Semper Fidelis!

I gotta say I am overwhelmed by the love I feel on this board! I actually had already booked an Illuminations cruise for the family, but I like the strawberries and champagne suggestion to add a celebratory flair.

I would save the money pack a lunch and go see your guide and buy more points. Now thats special.
Rich, you and I have always been on the same wavelength!!!

I have to agree with dvc guy.. Would it possible to send the kids and the MIL out for the evening? Have a nice meal in the room (catered maybe) or on the balcony and spend some quality time alone. You know, have a candlelit dinner, the whole nine yards. If that doesn't work for you I would say a nice quiet dinner somewhere and then a stroll on a moonlit beach. Either way just enjoy.

And also, please tell your husband that his (and all the American and British troups) efforts in the Gulf are appreciated more than words can ever express!
