Mentioned the ebay option to DH, he just did what we here fondly call "The BOB LOOK". One eyebrow raised and an eye stare/look that kinda goes throught you... It has taken me years to get the suttle differences of that look. And last night it said, "Why? Who would really pay for that? And..... Hummm how much ya think we could get for it....?"

You'd be surprised at how much people pay for all kinds of items. I sold quite a bit of old Disneyanna on Ebay and made pretty good money doing it. I some research on Disneyanna, went on ebay and bought items it off of some one who had no idea what they had, then I'd resell it. I once bought A 1940 Mickey Mouse Hankie and two Decks of 1935 Miniature Mickey Mouse Playing Cards for $50. The dates are not marked on these items but my research allowed me to date them. I sold them all for $215. I bought a 1940 LEEDS Cowboy Mickey Mouse Planter for $9.99 and sold it for $100. I bought a broken 1930's Mickey Mouse Movie Jektor and films for $50 and sold them all for $175. The list goes on. The fun part is the research.

You really will be suprised at what people will pay for thing on Ebay. I had an attena topper from Disney Quest Orlando. It was just the basic black mickey head with Disney Quest on it in white. I put it up for $6.00, thinking that I would get $10.00 for it. The ending price was....$103.00! I still can not belive it! I would NEVER pay that much for an antenna topper! Man do I wish I had a draw full of those things now!

In the last Disney Magazine, they have a section about some of the paper items that you can still find, one of them was a fan that had five pictures of the park on each side. They say that this fan that was going for about a .25 cents at Disneyland in 1955, no goes for about $150 to $200. They there is the press ticket for the opening day of the parks. They can go from $250 and up. It all just depends on who is looking for it and where you put it up for sell.

What a cool find! I found some old park maps from a while ago, too, and it was fun comparing all the places! :)

How neat! I remember my parents having a 1982 or 1983 WDW guidebook and it listed EPCOT Center on the inside back cover as "opening soon!" They moved a couple of years ago and I think the guidebook may have been lost in the move. I would love to look through it now!

You will appreciate my horror while watching a TV show called Clean Sweep yesterday. The basic idea of the show is that the "Clean Sweep" team comes into a messy house where the owners have way too much stuff. The team helps them sort thru their stuff (usually FORCES them), makes them get rid of most of it and then organizes their rooms to hold their much smaller bunch of stuff.
In this episode (I actually found a link! ) the owner was a Disneyland CM and had a whole lot of stuff that was limited edition and/or he got by being a CM (ride opening pins, Hoilday posters, etc). Most of the stuff the actually wanted him to THROW OUT!!!!! :earseek:
When he said the stuff was worth money, the team members got that same "Bob" look and actually said things like "No one is going to want an old pin you wore when -------- ride opened. Throw it in the garbage" and, when he had some cups from Fantasyland that are designs no longer in use, the said, "No wonder they're not in use anymore, they are all in your house. Throw them in the garbage."
The poor guy tried to bargain with them that if they let him keep it boxed in the garage until the next big Disney show, he promised to sell everything, but the one host (Peter) got really mad at him. He was only allowed to keep 2 baskets of stuff (I will admit he had way too much). One the features of the show is that they hold a garage sale to sell off the "extra" belongings and then the rest is donated to charity. I think the owner got his revenge when their garage sale made a lot more money than the usual sale on that show (I think they made around $900, when they usually get around $300). I also think the owner had his mother buy back some stuff for him (she spent $120).
My DD and I were trying to get a good enough look at anything to see if we could find any like it for sale on ebay, but they didn't really show anything long enough.

I'm a Clean Sweet fan, but I just about pooped my pants when Peter was MAKING him throw that stuff out....before he's been somewhat lenient with people on the show and let them have a box for ebay if they PROMISED to ebay it. It made me sick to see all that Disney stuff being thrown out when he probably could have made a couple thousand dollars on ebay. :sad2:

And BTW, their kitchen was one of the most disgusting rooms I have ever seen on that show...yucky!

Well, we won't sell the old Ecopt guide DH found. I thought about scaning it and then sharing it with all of you. Then I saw all the trademarks on it and realized that it would get me in trouble... I really don't want to be sued my a Mouse!

However it would be fun to see how many people had different old guides and if they scanned and posted them we could see just how different things are now.

EPCOT Center Guide Book, 1988!

They suggest you use the WorldKey(? no idea!) service and make resergvations as early in the day as possible- some things never change!

Le Cellier " Buffeteria service for lunch and dinner. Candian fare such as pork pie and rib roast. Labatt's beer and ale."

And tell us about the fully-accredited zoo at Discovery Island, which is presented by Gaines Foods, Inc.

It finishes up on the back page with an Advert. for the DVD, "Cindrella" -To be availabel for only a limited time only!

Thanks for the "stroll down memory lane"

I have fond memories of "World Key" reservations- it seemed so cool and futuristic back then! It enhanced the whole theme of Futureworld when you stopped by there and made your ressies first thing in the am.

When Le Cellier was a buffeteria DH and I considered it EPCOT's best kept secret. The prime rib dinner was to die for and only $10.99!!!!

DH and I loved Discovery Island- a very interesting break from park touring- we'd spend at least 1/2 day there.

PS- Are you sure it was a "Cinderella DVD" and not the VHS tape? I don't remember DVD's being out in 1988.

You are correct, of course! It was for a VHS tape, not a DVD!
This is what happens when you try to type and think at the same time... and you have a house full of kids to boot!

I hear you! Most of the kids are in bed, but now I've got a cat on my lap!
She's pretty fat and it's difficult to type around her!
