Hopefully someone familiar with DFW can help me out.

We only have a 51 min connection at DFW so we are trying to decide if we should do carry-on or check our luggage. It has been several years since we have connected through DFW - I know there is a sky train to use for changing terminals but my first question is - does it go in both directions or just one way?

Here is a little more information about our flights:
~ We are on an Embrear 175 flying into DFW and from what I have read we should be able to put the carry-ons in the overhead bin and not have to gate check them.
~ I have been tracking the flights for the last week or so and it looks like our flight into DFW will land at terminal B and our flight out will be in terminal A.
~ We are 2 adults - so no kids.

I have flown a lot over the years so I am well aware of all the possible things that might affect/delay our flights but I'm just trying to make an informed decision with the information at hand.

So my question is - given no delays, can we make this connection even with doing carry-one? Thanks

Not sure if this is your airline or not, but you can go to the homepage and change it, if not. Anyway, this is the Delta layout for an Embraer 175. It might help you decide.

I've been on other Embraers and they are smaller than, say an Airbus 320. The overhead bins were smaller as well. If you can get your luggage under the seat, with maybe a computer bag or backpack up top (assuming there's space), then go for it. I guess the worst case is they ask you to gate check your luggage.

Thanks. We are on American and from what I have read a regular size carry-on (22x14x9) should fit in the overhead bin.

Migh just check it on the way out so we don't have to worry about it.

An AA regional jet will fly into terminal B. The sky train runs both ways. You should be able to get from any one point to any other in the airport in 12 minutes.

On a regional jet, they'll take your carry on at the gate and return it to you at your arrival gate. I find it can be pretty slow. If you fell pressed for time, I'd check it.

Honestly, I'd check whatever you're not needing and keep what you have to have in a backpack. While in theory you can get from terminal to terminal in 12 minutes, DFW has been having horrible weather and having to try and run to your plane with a suitcase is my worst nightmare. Lighten your load as much as possible and sit as close to the front as you can so you can get off the plane ASAP.

EMB 175's have the full size overheads, you don't need to gate check.
