I justed to all of you very excited DFTW brides how I love looking over your plans and your wedding reports! Not sure how I found my way here, but I think curiosity got the better of me (since we are trying to plan our 10 year wedding anniversary trip) and now I'm hooked at looking at what you all are doing now!

I got married in October of 1999, in between 2 hurricanes, one being the first that ever closed down the Disney World resort. It was just weeks before my wedding, and all I could think was "my wedding is at the WP and its all glass!! What will I do if the windows blow out?" (hey, I was a very nervous Disney Bride!!) Anyway, all turned out great, and everyone has said it was the best wedding they ever had gone to! We had 80 guests, got married in the WP and had our reception at the Grand Floridian. Our planner was Ken Weaver (still love him!)While things weren't "cheap" then, we did our whole wedding/reception for much less than it is now... We also still have a wedding brick on the wedding walk, not sure if they still do that, but our brick is located just behind Francks. We visit it (like a pilgrimage) every time we are down in WDW.

Well, just wanted to share. If anyone is interested, I could post some pictures and memories. It would be fun to relive it (well, try to remember it in detail!) for you all, but I know it was almost 10 years ago, so it may no longer be of much interest now in 2008! :lmao: I don't want to spend that much time in putting up pictures if there is no interest!

Congrats to all Disney brides. Savor this time, it goes by fast! Best of luck! and looking forward to hearing all your exciting details!

Awww OMG your poor thing!!!! Thank God everything was ok..

I would love to see pictures!!!! Please share :)

Count me in for wanting to see photos! It sounds like it was a pretty dramatic lead up to a wonderful day.

I think its so sweet that you visit your brick every time you're there!

I would love to see pictures and hear all the details!

I think it is so cool you have a brick near Francks and where you got married!

Oh, we love pictures! I'd really really like to see them too! I didn't know about the wedding bricks, that's something I'll have to check out!

They stopped this some time ago unfortunately :sad2:

Awww shucks, you guys make me feel all warm and fuzzy!:flower3:

I'll go through my CDs and pull off pics that really tell the story. I have pictures from our makeup session with the Disney makeup people (the person who did my hair does Cinderella's hair, can't say that often!), the planning session and then Wedding and reception. I didn't get to see much of it, but my "Happy Hour" was at Citricos, and it looked beautiful. It was so awesome to be in a wedding dress at the GF, every looks at you, smiles. Then the next day, when you are back in regular clothes no one pays you any mind. And you are thinking, "hey, remember me, I'm the one in the big white dress yesterday?":rotfl:

anyway, I'll try to get up some pictures for everyone. My cake wasn't nearly as elaborate as the have now, (I don't think they even offered the Mad Hatter Cakes then!) but the food and the cake was the best ever! We had a white chocolate cinderella slipper for dessert, those were awesome! Every table took a pic of that! :lmao: Then the garter toss and the Mickey/Minnie toss for the kids. It was magical.

Thanks again for the interest. Even after 10 years, it still feels magical, and like it was just yesterday!

YAY!!!!

A dftw bride from the 90s..i dont feel so OLD now:lmao: ;) !!

i would LOVE to see pics!!!

so have you noticed HOW much things have changed since back in our days!!!!

Definitely post pics !! so .. question regarding the brick --- how does that work at disneyworld?

It used to come in the packet of your wedding information when you started planning your DFTW. It was a tri-fold color brouchure and gave you information on getting a brick. They were $225 and guaranteed to be there for at least 10 years. Then they couldn't guarantee if they would replace your brick or let it stay. So far, ours is still there, and I guess if they are no longer doing the program, they won't replace it! If you got married in WDW, you got a brick with the carriage on the top, otherwise, if you were just commemorating your marriage, or honeymoon, etc, you had a different picture.

If you want a brick in the esplanade at Disneyland (between DL and California Adventure) call 1-800-760-3566.

It's $150 for the brick and $35 for a 4-inch acrylic or wooden replica. There's a 10% discount for Disney Visa Card holders and Disneyland Premium Annual Passholders.

I ordered ours as a surprise for DH, and it was installed a few days after our wedding!
