DF Taught Me Something New, LOL

So, DF and I were having dinner the other night and he told me about a guy he knows who just got engaged and wears a man-engagement ring! I had never heard of men getting 2 rings?! lol. So DF makes a joke and says I owe him a gift, of course not a 2nd ring, lol.

After I purposed to my wife, a few days later she gave me a engagement band to say yes.

I used to where both my wedding ring and engagement ring. but now I just wear a band ring.

We will be celebrating our 15th anniversary this Nov

My Dad wears 2 rings, an "engagement" and a wedding band.
I didn't realise it wasn't the done thing until I was quite old!

Thats soooo sweet . I wish I would have known before, I would have gotten my fiancee a gift of some sort. Maybe on our 6 month engagement...now Im thinking...

While dating, the DF & I worn matching celtic rings we bought at some fair. After he proposed, he hinted at wanting a cheap band until he got the official one.

I think it's a stainless steel band I picked up at Zales on sale for under $100, but he loves it.

I got my DH a piano when we got engaged. He hadn't had one since moving out at 19 and he missed playing terribly. I thought it was unfair I got this beautiful ring and he didn't get anything!

After my fiance and I were dating for just over a year he gave me a celtic ring as a promise ring. Not an actual engagement ring, since we were still in high school. Then i got him an almost matching cheap silver celtic band. Its been over 5 years and I got upgraded to a beautiful new ring, and he still wears his bent $15 band. I think hes pretty sentimental about it and he says that that means as much as a wedding band to him.

I think it may be hard prying the old crushed ring from him and replacing it with a nicer quality band.

my df didnt have a ring until we went on holiday and found a very ncie (cheap) band, so i said he can wear that as an engagement ring. But he wont wear it after our wedding, he'll just wear his wedding band

I don't think my DFi would wear one. He loves the idea of a wedding band, says he's proud to wear that but a mangagement ring? Ha! He'd laugh me outta town!

Sorta.... A couple months after we got engaged, he talked about how he wished he had a band showing his 'commitment' so when he's at work, talkign about the kids and such, he felt like our commitment was more obvious than just 'girlfriend' or 'fiance'...
So...I got him a 'promise ring'... He loves it and wears it everyday... Work has kind of destroyed it (it was colored stainless steel, and he does construction) so since we just bought his actual wedding band, he said he'd like to continue wearing his promise ring when he's working, then switch it out with the band outside of work...
Works for me... they are two very different rings, and I love seeing it on his hand
