Deyki's Make-A-Wish - 12/15 - Maybe not

How fun! Deyki loves little girls his age. He keeps pointing them out and saying, "Isn't she cute mom?" I think I may have to lock him up when he is a teenager! If our schedules work out, maybe we could meet you at the park one of those days.

Yes! The planning is in full swing! Deyki is feeling a lot better today, but now he is getting a fever. He was at 100.9 tonight. If he gets to 101, protocol says he muct go to the ER for tests and three days of IV meds. I hope it goes back down before morning.

If Deyki is well enough, we have a baby coming to stay with us Thursday through Sunday. I cared for him when he was a newborn. Now he iis a year old and just started walking! I can't wait to see those toddling baby feet.

Never a dull moment!

Once I make a final decision on the trip, I will let you know. If we are heading to the same park on any of our overlapping days and it fits your schedule, we would love to meet you guys.

Hope Deyki is continuing to feel better!

Deyki continues to feel better. We have Baby JoJo staying with us for the rest of the week. He is 13 months old now and just started walking. I had him originally as a newborn baby. It's great to see him doing so well.

I need lots of prayers for my mom and dad!!! My mom just called and told me to pray because my dad had fallen again and she was taking him to the hospital. My dad has Parkinsons. He was finally recovering from a broken hip. He had fallen at the church warehouse this spring while getting food for the poor. My dad is a great, giving man with a huge heart for people. It is so hard watching Parkinsons make him slower and weaker and sadder. Just yesterday he was sounding happier and more like himself. But now . . .

I don't have any details because my mom literally just stated he had fallen and they were heading to the hospital. She told me to call my sisters and then she hung up. I hate living hours away from them. I feel very helpless right now. I miss seeing my dad strong and healthy and able to do all the things he loves to do.

I would appreciate prayers for an amazing recovery and quick, accurate, compassionate doctors and nurses tonight.

Sorry to hear about your dad! Sending prayers and good thoughts to him and all of you!

My mom called and said Dad is home. Thanks for praying. Amazingly there were no breaks and his hip replacement is still intact and in place! The doctor thinks it may have dislocated when he fell and then popped back into place on it's own. That is excellent! No surgery needed. He is still bruised up and having some pain, but he is home. No one knows what made him fall. Mom sounded tired of course and very concerned about Dad. I am just relieved that it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

Reading Deyki other Wish Trip Reports has just saved me $250!! It also showed me how very easy he is to please. All my angst over the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise, the ADRs - it was all for naught! Thanks for the support and the help anyway. I felt loved. :lovestruc

Here's the deal, Deyki thinks the Pirates and Princesses Party pirate:princess: at GKTW looks like too much fun to miss. It's the only night we would have done the fireworks cruise, so he had a choice to make. I made him a list of what he would do at each one. I showed him pictures. He chose the party at GKTW. I was shocked because it seemed the cruise was so very implortant to him. Maybe it was me who thought the fireworks cruise sounded cool . :rotfl2: So with the cruise crossed off the list, we won't be at the park as late as planned. That means I don't want two character dinners eating into our time that day. Again, I made it Deyki's decision. He decided to throw the Crystal Palace to the side. So all together that's about $250 I don't need to spend and two less reservations to worry myself about. All that stress - for what? :rotfl:

So now I am just aiming for breakfast at Ohanas on Friday, and Hollywood and Vines or Sci-Fi for lunch one of the other days. That shouldn't be too difficult.

Thanks to all of you who have written such great TRs! It is a great help for my son as we plan what he most wants to do!

Its funny how kids are. When we went, I planned all these things to do and wouldn't you know we barely did any of it. Mya had her mind set about what she wanted and we made the most magical memories with just following after her cue. Sorry to hear about the health problems in your family and glad they both resolved themselves. Also, don't worry too much about the money, believe me you will have more than enough. I was shocked by the amount we recieved and felt almost guilty about spending it.

I am so glad everything is working out for trip. But your TR report cost me more money:rotfl:(ha ha). I was sharing with my DH and he said the Pirates and Pals cruise sounds awesome. :thumbsup2 Let's do that and surprise our 5 year with that. So I thought being 5 weeks out that we not be able to get a ressie but we did. So my five year has been through alot with his brother. When we have to go for treatment and the days we spend out of town at the hospital our five year old has to stay with relatives. So we are going to make that day Alex day and end with a surprise cruise and celebrate him with fireworks. So I would of never known about the cruise without your TR so thank you for you sharing and helping us make our "ALEX" day so special.

I just started reading your Pre-TR and am so excited for you and your kids to have this opportunity. My aunt used to be a foster parent and it is so amazing how big your heart is to be able to do this! I can't wait to hear more about your trip planning!

I love how reading other TR's gives you ideas. We are going on a trip in September and I read other TR's and get so many ideas! I am sure Alex will love his day!

I want to have plans in place, but I think we will end up following their hearts too. I still keep thinking - "Really, you don't want the fireworks cruise? You don't want Pooh Bear?" I think I was lookiing forward to those things more than I realized! I have no clue how much money they give us for the trip. Whatever it turns out to be will be enough I am sure. My kids are happy with simple things. We don't usually spend much money. I could see feeling guilty spending it myself.

At least it's a wish trip and not all out of pocket, right?! I am glad you heard about something that Alex will enjoy. I am trying to make sure there is something special for each of my girls too. They do miss out on things and go through a lot having a sibling with all the medical needs Deyki has. I think it sounds like a great plan to make Alex feel extra special!

I am so excited too. This is something I could never have given them! I ove caring for children like I get to. Especially when their families do well. The little guy I have for the weekend is a huge inspiration. His mom used the program for a few months a year ago and is doing a great job being a mom and providing for him. All she needed was a little help. Thanks for reading our PTR!

This is a picture of everyone in the house this weekend. Well, except me, but I will post one with me next.

I found a picture I am in. This is Easter of this year. My dad and mom came to visit. I had two little girls who went back home right after Easter.

Deyki meeting Charles Tillman from the Chicago Bears! Thanks to our awesom Child Life staff for arranging that!

Deyki with the letter he received from Spiderman!

It took awhile, but the camera and computer are communicating again! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Hi, I followed you over from your comment on my trip report. Your children are beautiful. Do you go to Children's Memorial? I wonder if we ever overlapped there.

I'm so glad your trip is working out.

Hi! We are at Children's for the baby's cochlear implants. Occasionally Deyki is there in the ER. Once he was admitted there because there were no beds open at University of Chicago. We live really close to Children's, but La Rabida and University of Chicago have been his hospitals since he was a baby. We happily drive past Children's because his doctors are just that good!

I just love your pics. Your children have the most wonderful smiles!!!

Thank you! I love those smiles!

It was nice to see some pictures of you guys! I can't wait to see photos of those smiling faces at WDW!

How are Deyki and your dad doing?

I am tired tonight. Somehow two one year olds and my own three children zapped my energy!

Deyki is doing very well. No more belly pain, no fevers. He has an appointment at the sickle cell clinic on Wednesday afternoon. I know we will have labs and will probably have a few tests to talk about for the fall.

There is a big conference going on for therapists working with deaf children. That means we don't have any therapies this week! It is a very nice break! I am using the time to finish lesson plans so we can start school again next week.

My dad is doing okay. He still has some pain, but he sounds good when I speak to him. It's truly amazing that his injuries weren't worse than they were.

Thanks for asking about us. Tomorrow morning I make my very first ADR ever! I will share how it all works out!

I am an ADR expert! Let me know if you need help. I used the online system for the first time on Saturday and it went well. DD and I are taking our trip from 10/30 - 11/3.

Today was the first day for ADRs. I got up nice and early and logged on. The Disney site loaded up and all was going well. I had the time I wanted for the place I wanted. Just when I expect reservation numbers to pop up, I get a page that says - Sorry, our system is down and this cannot be completed at this time. What! :scared1: So I grab the cell phone and dial. It didn't take too long to get an answer, but the time I wanted was gone. I took the time 20 minutes later. It should work fine. If I decide I want to try for earlier, I will check again and see if anyone cancels.

With only mild drama this morning we have an ADR for November 2 at 1:20 at the Sci-Fi at DHS. Deyki had originally wanted Hollywood and Vine, but seeing the cars changed his mind!

Now I have a breather. No more ADRs to schedule until Saturday morning.

One more bit of fun - -

Today is my daughter Nidra's 11th birthday!
