Good Evening to all...

I am writing to anyone out there that may still shoot film and wondering where you have yours developed. I live in Chesapeake, VA and most of the places here that did develop it have stopped or are in the process of phasing it out in the very near future.:sad2:

I know a lot of people say "film users" are a dying breed, but I still enjoy using it and am so sad to think it is so seldom used.

Thanks for your time and I appreciate your help very much.

I mostly just do black and white these days since I can process it myself. I've had access to a 4x5 view camera recently and am in love with that format so I don't see myself giving it up soon. If I do color there's a lab here in Dallas that processes the less common sizes I like to use. There's still a lot of 1 hour labs that do 35mm around here.

Flim? How do you spell that?

Only joking!!:rotfl2:

We, maybe I should rephrase that, every once in a while the DW likes to shoot film with her SLR. We still have places like Walgreens, Osco that develop it. They are right at the end of my block so I don't have to travel far.

I hadn't shot film for a couple of years, but just yesterday I went to get a roll developed.
First since I was going to Costco, I stopped by the photo desk and asked if they developed film. "Nope."
I knew that a lot of places would have stopped doing it so I decided to go to Black's (Only does prints and sells cameras and accessories). They could do it. One hour? Umm. No. "How long?" "Weeks." "Weeks? You mean more than one? Like two?" "Probably more than three." :scared1: So I went to a pro photo store (Don's Photo) and they'll have it by the end of the week. :sad2:

I'm jealous. There's nothing like the smell of fixer! One of these years, I'll get my own dark room...

It's cheap to set up to process film. I spent about $50 last time I had to replace all my chemistry and the jugs and tanks aren't much more on top of that (check ebay for tanks). Then just take over a closet or bathroom. :)

You can scan it if you don't want to invest in an enlarger. Though I still like to make prints as well.
