Yes, we would pay rack rate if we take the dev pts. Since we were planning a vaca in Feb 2008, the timing is just too good to pass up. It's almost as good as if it were free since we were prepared to pay for that trip anyway

Would it be a good idea to split the 300 into one 200 and two 50's? Or are those amts still too big ? We're looking to get abt 10 days in Feb at BWV and BCV (split stay), so we'd like to get close to 400 dev pts to cover the whole trip.

When are you planning on purchasing your points? I believe that the developer's points expire 7 months from your purchase (not your use year). (Someone please correct me if I am wrong.) So I think that you would need to purchase your contract 7 months from the last day of your February vacation.

Unless they have changed the rules recently, you should be able to break up your initial contract into one 160-pt master contract and one or more add-ons and still get the developer points for the grand total. Ask your guide to be sure this is still allowed. Otherwise, they offer the developer points for add ons of at least 100 points so worst case, you could break up your 300-pt purchase into one 160-pt master contract and one 140-pt add-on contract.

Assuming you can still purchase one 160-pt contract and then one or more add-ons of at least 25 points, then you can decide how you want to split it up. Personally, I wouldn't advocate dividing it up into lots of 25-point pieces, but I wouldn't buy one 300-pt contract either since it would be much harder to sell it later if you want/need to do so. I would do 160+140 or 160+70+70 or 160+100+40.

Some people divide up their purchase based on the number of kids they have so that years from now they can give each child an equal number of points.

I hope that's the case. I have some trouble understanding my guide person sometimes. I need to have him confirm that during our next conversation.
Right now I am thinking of doing 160+70+70 as long as i can get a cumulative dev pts total.

My next question is to check the dates for when we can go in Feb. Can they do that before we actually have joined? Because if our dates are not available then I will have to rethink the whole thing! UGH!

Just tell him you will not be buying unless they split up your points like that. Don't ask, tell....
