"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

Great update! You really did your homework. Thank for all the fun factoids and the pictures to go along with them.

Where exactly is the bride's ring in the HM queue? I have never seen it.

Great bride picture. When that picture turns out well it really rocks.

Up at 5am "faint: It does look like it paid off in terms of crowds.

Thank you! I thought it would be a bit interesting and I was curious about them :cutie:

It is near one of the corner's and next to it is the obelisk stone. It is easy to find if you walk to the end of the Q and look of the last chain.

Thank you! I was very surprised!

Yeah 5 am was not good  The crowds tended to be lighter in the morning and then it would pick up around 12.

:lmao: :rotfl2: MOMMA LOOK AT! That was priceless!

Love the pictures! I can't believe how EARLY you got up. Looks like it paid off though. MK looked deserted.

LOVE getting to MK early and enjoying it before it's packed with people!

Too funny about iasw. However, I'll take a little kid any day over an adult taking flash photos on a dark ride the whole way through!

I'm guessing you're off to POC (and hoping that guy with the flash camera is NOT in your boat!) ;)

Great update and pictures of POR. It is one of our favorite resorts. Just so pretty and peaceful and your pictures captured that atmophere perfectly. Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip.

Great update! :thumbsup2 I loved all the pictures of the resort, the castle and Haunted Mansion. I totally agree with Mary Ellen, you really did your homework with all those fun facts about the HM queue. Have you ever checked out the Imaagineers' Guides to the parks? I especially like the Magic Kingdom and Epcot ones, there are so many cool facts about the way the parks were planned and the details they include.

Nice update!
We were equally annoyed that Riverside's hot breakfast didn't start until 7AM.
I don't recall that being the case at the Value Resorts...

As for next attraction, I would've guessed Big Thunder Mountain but I believe it was closed during that time.
So me guess is that you lasses be headed fer treasure and adventure on the high seas of the Caribbean. Savvy?

Great update and equally great pictures!! I love the pics you got in and outside .... I love resort pics, especially resorts I've never stayed at:thumbsup2

Wow you were up and ready early! Didn't look too busy there at all though, so that's good!

Loved all the pictures; especially the Hm ones! :)

Yay for Magic Kingdom, That's awesome that you have another trip planned again! ahhh so many castle shots, they're incredible, I love that castle, so much, oh so much! You managed to get a pic on PPF, that's awesome! HM is totally awesome, I never even knew that there was that much hidden in the line!

I'm a terrible Diser.... Because I don't get... the ring.
What's that about? What's it mean?
I like all your pictures. It's like being there myself.
Also... 5 AM?! Are you people gluttons for punishment?! My rule is... if the sun isn't up, neither am I... even on vacation... and this still applies for rainy nasty days (as long as I don't have to work).

5 am though? Gross. Love the pictures.

That Ravenscroft on the piano is AWESOME. He's also the guy who sings "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" !!!! That's an awesome detail that I will be sure to look for next time. :thumbsup2

HMMMM I think you're going to... uh... Snow White? NO. WINNIE THE POOH. You said on my TR that it was your fave. :thumbsup2

It is funny looking back on it but at the time it was so annoying

Thank you! Yeah we have a hard time sleeping in at home let along at Disney! Every rope drop was worth it on this trip :thumbsup2

It is the best feeling!

I find both instances to be equally annoying

I don't think we encountered a flash camera on that ride :rolleyes1

Thank you! It is such a gorgeous resort!

I have read just about every book on Disney  I think we actually have that series laying around somewhere :thumbsup2

I feel like the resort cafeterias should open about two or three hours before a park opens. It would just make more sense since there are so many early risers!

It was closed during that time :sad2: We might be :cutie:

Thank you! I also love looking at resort pics!

The mornings were very quiet!

Thank you!

Yep! One in September/October and I am pushing for a January trip :thumbsup2

Thank you! I love it too!

It's not the best but I tried

Yep we got to take our time in the Q since no one was around so I paid attention to the little things :goodvibes

The ring is supposed to belong to Madame Leota. There are tons of stories about how she was originally married to the owner of the house but the true story behind HM has never been fully released.

Thank you!

 We are used to getting up that early with two dogs who love to go outside at 4 am!

Ah well we didn't wake up that early the entire time  Thank you!

I am glad I could point it out!

I don't think we rode Snow White that trip :guilty: but it may or may not be Winnie the Pooh we did ride it a couple times this trip :thumbsup2

Great pictures!!! Love taking a tour of the MK :thumbsup2 You really are a talented photographer. Especially love the pic of the bride.

Great update!
I love early morning pictures when there is no people. You can really get some nice photos. I love taking pictures of the sunrise over the lake at WL.
MK looked nice and empty for you as well. Love the Haunted Mansion - it was closed the last time we were there so it's been a loooongg time since I've seen it. Can't wait to see the new queue.
Momma look at - too cute!

Since you're a fan of IASW, did you see the new Chamilia beads? They have five new beads featuring some of the countries from IASW. I believe Italy, Spain, Mexico, Australia and I can't think of the other right now. I am wondering if they are eventually going to have them all. Check it out.

Thank you so much! I worked very hard on those pictures so I am glad you enjoy them! Tons more to come!

It was a great morning! I bet that spot would be beautiful at sunrise! You need to go on HM soon!

It was cute but annoying

I am not a fan but my mom is so she might have to look into them :thumbsup2

AHHH I love love love your TR!! I've commented before on your other ones but it's been forever. Life gets in the way of the Dis!

You're so pretty!!

You take good pictures :) I love how you guys went to the MK so early and had the park basically exclusive to you!! We do that at night, when the park has extra magic hours. We'll stay 'till closing and sometimes the crowds go WAY down! I'll have to keep the 5am wake up call in mind though!

I can't wait to read more!! <3

Ack! I'm falling behind! How dare life get in the way?!?

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone who celebrated any holidays this past weekend had a good one! I am sorry we are so behind on this but life has been crazy over here!

I hear ya! I hear ya!!!

We got up bright and early at 5 am! It was very early  we got ready and headed down to the food court for our first Disney breakfast at POR.

5am!!! How... umm... what's a good word for it... ah, got it... indecent

There were many choices but unfortunately not a lot was open at 6 am

Well, that'll learn you!

We made our selections and headed off to find some seats since it was soo crowded!

I think I see a free spot waaaaay at the back.

We ended up near the tv so we got to watch Special Agent Oso while we ate. He is a cute panda and I enjoyed yelling out the answer to the questions he asked while I ate. Yes I am 21....

:sad2:

I had apple jacks

ah, the breakfast of champions.

Champions with a sugar high, but still...

Like I said there weren't many options so we didn't end up with a very filling breakfast which would come back to haunt us in a few...

uh, oh.

With a ton of time before we needed to head to our first park we decided to run our mugs back to the room and walk around the resort a bit.

Well that's certainly a good reason to get up AT FIVE FREAKING AM!!!

We finally got to the bus stop and we were so excited to finally be heading to a park!

Does anything beat that feeling of going to the first park of the trip?

Look at them Superstar hands!!!!

:lmao: We call 'em Jazz hands.

After Mickey and the family counted down mom and I rushed down the street and finally saw the beauty that is my Castle.

I've noticed a trend here on the Dis where people call the castle their own. One of these days, some of those people are going to get together and we'll have a full scale riot on our hands!

Had enough of the Castle yet?

What? Were there pictures of the castle? Must've missed 'em. :rolleyes1

Then continued to Peter Pan

I will never forgot how I felt the first time I rode PP. I had no idea that the ride would "fly". So cool. Love it.

We decided to head to my favorite ride which is across the way from this

You wanna know what ride is even better than HM?

Nothing is better than HM.

The name is a tribute to Harper Goff, who created the first concept drawing for a Disneyland haunted house.

Ah! That I did not know.

We also found the ring on our way through the Q

Nice! :thumbsup2

Once on the ride I didn't really take any picture but in the Bride scene I decided to take a quick one and I ended up suprised with how well it turned out!

It really turned out well! Nice shot!

We started hearing "MOMMA LOOK AT!" yelled at the top of the little boy's lungs. It continued non stop for the rest of the ride...

:lmao:

Then again, I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen too often on IASW.

So after that annoying and tiresome ride on the Happiest Cruise that ever sailed it was time to head to our next ride...

Any suggestions?

::yes:: BTMRR

Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

Thank you! I can totally understand that!

Thank you!

Thank you! It was nice having the park to ourselves for the morning :goodvibes I love extra magic night hours! Unfortunately I don't think we hit up any this trip :confused3

Ack! I'm falling behind! How dare life get in the way?!?

Idk it's sad! School is out in a couple weeks so I will be back more regularly!

I hear ya! I hear ya!!!

5am!!! How... umm... what's a good word for it... ah, got it... indecent

We are used to it :confused3

Well, that'll learn you!

It did this won't be the last time this happens though...

I think I see a free spot waaaaay at the back.

Good eye! :thumbsup2

:sad2:

ah, the breakfast of champions.

Champions with a sugar high, but still...

It was good!

uh, oh.

Yep someone gets cranky...

Well that's certainly a good reason to get up AT FIVE FREAKING AM!!!

Yeah we missed out on good food :worried:

Does anything beat that feeling of going to the first park of the trip?

Nope!

:lmao: We call 'em Jazz hands.

Those hands just reminded me of Molly Shannon on SNL :rotfl:

I've noticed a trend here on the Dis where people call the castle their own. One of these days, some of those people are going to get together and we'll have a full scale riot on our hands!

It will settle down once I show up because they all know I just let them say it is theirs on their TRs but they know its mine :thumbsup2

What? Were there pictures of the castle? Must've missed 'em. :rolleyes1

I will never forgot how I felt the first time I rode PP. I had no idea that the ride would "fly". So cool. Love it.

I love that feeling! It is so exciting flying over London :thumbsup2

You wanna know what ride is even better than HM?

Nothing is better than HM.

Yep!

Ah! That I did not know.

Neither did I!

Nice! :thumbsup2

It really turned out well! Nice shot!

Thank you!

:lmao:

Then again, I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen too often on IASW.

Nope kids hate that ride :thumbsup2

::yes:: BTMRR

Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes
BTMRR was closed during our trip :(

Hi All! Hope everyone is good and ready for the weekend! Time for an update. When Caitlin left off it was still EMH at the MK and we had just finished IASW.....

When we finished our ride on the Happiest Cruise that Ever Sailed we headed toward the 100 Acre Woods. On our way we passed a pretty empty carousel

disneyday2310.jpg

And the top of Prince Eric's castle was peaking over the construction wall
disneyday2312.jpg

As was a portion of the Beast's castle
disneyday2313.jpg

I don't know what I am more excited about...eating at Beast's or the Little Mermaid ride. Tough to decide!

We passed the Dumbo's Circus area also under construction
disneyday2314.jpg

(since we don't have little ones this doesn't really appeal to me)

We then arrived at Pooh's place
disneyday2315.jpg

Notice the wait time? That was if you stopped to play in the queue. We walked right on!

disneyday2316.jpg

The Pooh queue offered a different glimpse of the Little Mermaid area
disneyday2317.jpg

And the home of Belle and her Papa
disneyday2320.jpg

We were quickly loaded into a honey pot and entered Pooh's storybook
disneyday2326.jpg

disneyday2354.jpg

Silly ol' bear!
disneyday2356.jpg

After our ride we headed in the direction most of you thought we were headed after IASW. Yep! We were off to Adventureland by way of Liberty Square and Frontierland...

disneyday2361.jpg

disneyday2363.jpg

disneyday2364.jpg

As you can see the park was still almost empty! It was crazy since Touring Plans had rated the day a 10! We figured they were WAY off! (they ended up being right)

Finally we arrived in Adventureland
disneyday2368.jpg

disneyday2370.jpg

disneyday2371.jpg

Our first stop was the Jungle Cruise because it was a walk on! We always try and ride the JC twice each trip. Once during the day and again at night! It is seriously like 2 different rides!

disneyday2375.jpg

disneyday2376.jpg

disneyday2377.jpg

Here's a shock! Caitlin did not take any pics of the cruise! Suprising huh? Yep she just sat back and enjoyed the ride and the corny stale jokes.

Now I know you all know where we headed next!

disneyday2379.jpg

Check out the wait time! Now we usually do POTC without much of a wait but I've never seen a sign say anything less than 5 minutes

disneyday2381.jpg

disneyday2382.jpg

Our boat only had one other family! Honestly, this was the least crowded EMH we had ever seen and we've had several August trips!

When we got off the ride we noticed it was starting to get hot and humid but it was very windy. Kind of an odd mix. It ended up going up to 85 that day and considering it was snowing at home it seemed crazy hot. I then had the idea we should check out the Tiki Room. We hadn't seen it since it went back to the original show so I thought it would be fun. Caitlin was less than enthusiastic but she went along.

*continued next post

We caught the tail end of the pre-show
disneyday2428.jpg

disneyday2429.jpg

disneyday2432.jpg

Then we went inside to hear the birds sing words and the flowers croon...

disneyday2439.jpg

disneyday2457.jpg

disneyday2460.jpg

When the show ended the princess was hmmm how shall I delicately put this? Cranky? I don't know if it was getting up at 5am or the heat or the humidity or those dumb singing birds but she was not her usual happy self. But I knew just the thing to change her mood and told her she had to follow me and do what I said.

As we walked to the surprise destination she of course took more pics

We could not get enough of all the trees and flowers in bloom!
disneyday2488.jpg

I can't wait til the construction is done! It just takes away from the magic IMO
disneyday2489.jpg

Remember how empty the park had been? Well it was about 10am as we rounded the corner toward Main St and suddenly it was absolutely flooded with people! It reminded me of a scene from "The Walking Dead" where all the zombies are coming out of the woods! It was crazy!!!

The crowd had to clear out of the way for the trolley
disneyday2494.jpg

So did you guess where we were headed? If you're thinking the Confectionary you win! Yep, I knew a sweet treat would brighten her spirits and I was right!

Hmmmm, decisions, decisions
disneyday2496.jpg

disneyday2497.jpg

Now I thought Caitlin would get a chocolate covered strawberry. Instead she chose a 'smore. I went with the strawberry.

disneyday2498.jpg

We found some steps to sit on and people watch while we snacked. They were delish! That 'smore ended up taking Top Honors as Caitlin's new favorite park snack!
disneyday2505.jpg

Isn't this pretty?
disneyday2507.jpg

After our snack we had about half an hour before our adr at one of the monorail resorts so we headed out of the park. Where do you think we're off to?
