Dessert Party Costs?

So I am trying to figure out approximately it costs to have an Illuminations Dessert Party. What time did your guests have to be there by? How much did it cost? Was it worth it? Are there any other locations that are neat for a dessert party?

So I am trying to figure out approximately it costs to have an Illuminations Dessert Party.
For a standard Illumination DP there are these costs:
1. Rental location
2. Food per person
3. Viewing fee for guests without park tix
4. Transportation -optional
5. Linen and decor - optional

What time did your guests have to be there by?
Usually JUST for DP around 8:30

How much did it cost?
Oh lordy.... I think it starts from about $800 and up

Was it worth it?
I'll let you know the end of april

Are there any other locations that are neat for a dessert party?
Location depends on the amt of guests
Below 20 Marrocco
Under 30 - UK upper, lower and France arm
Under 50 - Italy West
Over 50 - everything else I think but I'm not sure

To give you an idea, we are having a DP at the UK Upper, July 17 for 20 people:

Location: $250
Viewing Fee: $265
Buffet ($27 PP): $680
No Transportation

Total: $1195

Is it worth it? From what I have read, YES!

Here is our cost- 35 people at Italy west
viewing fee $12.50 each-you pay up front even for guest who have tix-get a refund if necessary-$437.50
location $250
food pp $24.50-$857.50
set up fee $75

cost total$1650

also no transportation-we are meeting at the international gateway and walking to the DP

Total cost for 32 people was just under $2,000 with cheapest menu and the Lower UK (UK Lochside) location and transportation.

TOTALLY worth it! It is the thing that sets a Disney wedding apart from all others and what your guests will be talking about for years!

Wondering about the viewing fee. I know we have to pay this for everyone up front but how do they check if people have used their ticket to get into the park that day or for those that have AP. I heard you get that money back but how do they know who used what if anything?

they scan them as they enter, i was told to make sure people who have them, have them to hand when we enter

I was kinda wondering that too. Most of my family, if not all, are going to have tickets to help with the cost (their idea not mine) so I'm not putting up a stink. So how long does it take to get your money back and how do they refund it?

You can tell them beforehand how many people will have tix and then you never have to pay for them in the first place. Then they check the APs that night and, presumably, charge you after the fact if fewer people have passes.

I was told you pay up front and get refunded after the event for those who had tickets

Well that's lame! We told them how many people planned to have passes so they only made us pay for all the rest up front.

just wanted to add in here that your location fee could be waivered depending on your reception location. I think that the Epcot receptions are the only locations that give waivers for a DP. Does anybody know of any others?

Has anybody had a Fantasmic dessert party? How does this compare to Illuminations?? Is the cost compareable or is one cheaper than the other? Any thoughts?

I have a question about the dessert party. They look so special and like so much fun! For those of you that choose to have it on your wedding day, what did you do about your cake? Did you and your guests eat cake at the reception and then eat dessert again at Epcot? I would be afraid no one would eat anything! I think I'd like to have the dessert party the night before after the rehearsal instead of a dinner, but those wedding photos with the fireworks are beautiful as well! What are the pros and cons of each option? Thanks!

I think alot depends on the timing of your events. Our ceremony is at 9:00am and our pre reception and reception is from 10:00am to 3:00pm. There will be a break in activities between 3:00 and 8:00 when people are free to do what they want - go back to their hotel, check out the pools, go to a park, etc. We will have the cake at our reception - probably around 1:00 or 2:00 and then the deserts watching IllumiNations - probably around 8:30 - plent of time for them to want deserts.
