Despite the tears and pain... (photos; Patriotic)

Thanks Sherri!

I want to say that I don't recall who said it , but it is true now as it was about the horror of concentration camps in WWII- "We are doomed to repeat that which we forget."

I will always remember the day when I no longer felt safe and I will never forget all our heros past and present.

It isn't a matter of not wanting to read it I read all threads unless it truly does not merit a read. I just feel for the families that have lost loved ones in the tragedy. I feel they should be able to have this day without all the reminders as they allready have a large one every day when they come home to a house without the husband, wife etc. They do not need to see this on the anniversary I realize that is was a natrional tragedy also but with respect to those that lost loved ones I think it is time to allow them to have the day without all the extra reminders.

I recognize that you are only caring for others.

I lost my mother tragically when she was 45 years old. Any tribute and reminder of her is a blessing. And thinking of her every day is a blessing. I never want to forget her or forget how she died. This does not take away from her life, but teaches me lessons on how to live mine.

I would be hurt and insulted the tributes stopped so we could "get past it." These people probably never will get past it and they may be hurt beyond hurts if we stop recognizing what happened that day.

Just looking at the other side.

Please don't make assumptions about how people grieve. It may be healing to them. Anniversaries and the tributes around them are especially healing.

Thank you for this tribute.

Somethings should not be forgotten.

A beautiful tribute, EsmereldaX. We will ALWAYS remember.

Esmeralda...Thanks for doing this!

Lori...What a great picture. And from your balcony!!

LIDisneyFan...    I can't even imagine! Bless you!

I have to agree with the others that have lost loved ones. Tributes and remembrances don't hinder people from healing. If anything, it helps them. Having lost a number of people including my husband, I can honestly say that I treasure it when I run into someone that actually knew him and has a story to tell me about him. After so long, sometimes it feels like I just imagined our past life. But when they talk about him, I feel like I just saw him. And you never get over it, you just learn to deal with it.

Tomorrow will be a somber day for Americans & a day that will never be forgotten.

Thank-you for the wonderful tribute!

I understand where you are coming from, but I lost family that day, both blood relatives and neighbors. If people ever stop remembering, I will be crushed. My family, like so many others, was forever changed that day, and all I can ask is that it is never forgotten. Yes, life goes on, but I truly appreciate the pictures and the tributes and the thoughts.

I wont forget and I'm sure others wont. Being the wife of a Fireman and being a cousin of a NYFD Firefighter that DIDNT get to come home . I am glad to see that you have posted this . I look at it as respect and not someone trying to keep a wound open .

Thanks
