Going to UO next week and never done this ride. I'll be by myself so can zip through single rider lines on most attractions, but since this one doesn't have one, would have to wait (I won't have an express pass). Don't think the wait till be too long, 30 mins or so probably, but is it worth that kind of wait if I've never done it before, or should I just skip it? I know it's just a motion-based 4D theater type attraction, so not overly enthused, but looks fun.

Thanks!

It's a hoot. Do it first thing or at the very end of the night and hopefully not TOO bad of a wait.

Unless doing it very first thing or at the very end of the day, expect at least a 45 min wait.

IMO while quite fun, not worth a 45 min wait.

We ride it once per trip. We really enjoy it, but even with the express pass, it just takes too long for us. I recommend you endure the wait once and give it a try.

Thanks all! I was kinda thinking along your lines @georgina. Usually rides like that, if I've never done them before, I enjoy checking out, but 15 mins or so is my max for waiting. I'll play it by ear and keep an eye on the wait times. I do like how UO's mobile app has alerts for wait times on it.

We never waited long. Always do it at rope drop and since it is the first ride you come to, very easy to jump in line.

I consider it a must do if you like the movie. Plus, you get a photo op with the Minions at the end.

Since it is the first ride you see as you enter Universal Studios, it does tend to always have a long line. My kids love it! If this one is way too long for you to wait, be sure you pop into the gift shop to get a picture with a Minion and Gru. There is rarely a wait for this meet and greet.

I was at UO last week and found the wait times shockingly low - a number of times it was at 15 minutes mid to late day. It's very cute ride (particularly if you love the Minions) and there are some videos to keep you occupied while waiting. If you are staying on-site and have access to early entry, that's the time to do it. If not, first thing in the morning or at the end of the day work too.
