On what should be a joyous holiday season, my family is in a state of heartbreak. Yesterday, we buried my 38 year old cousin who passed away Sunday of breast cancer. My beautiful loving cousin left behind a precious 5 year old little boy who is distraught without his mommy.

Please pray for our precious little boy who is now going to have to live with my cousin's drug addicted ex-husband. The baby loves his daddy, but hasn't had much contact with him due to court orders.

I truly pray everyone's Thanksgivings are a happy one. Hug and love your families.

Has anyone in your family petitioned for custody of the child? If he has not been an active part in the child's life, you may be able to terminate his parental rights. Also, if he is addicted to drugs, it is doubtful that he will want to spend the money on an attorney to fight for the child.

Papers were filed with the courts on Monday morning for grandparents' rights (my aunt helped my cousin raise the baby since she got sick 3 1/2 years ago). We're praying she gets what the courts usually set for our state which would be every other weekend and every Tue. and Thurs. evening. In the meantime, everyone in town knows my cousin's ex. and has vowed to keep an eye on him and will report any suspicious activity as soon as it happens. The neighbors (he gets to move back into their house this weekend) have also vowed to keep an eye on the little fella and make sure he isn't just "roaming" the neighborhood aimlessly raising himself.

I truly do hope to live to see the day that cancer is wiped out! My family has been attacked so senselessly with this horrible disease! My aunt died at age 40 with breast cancer, another aunt at 44 with lung cancer, my mom is an ovarian cancer survivor, my cousin that just passed...her mom is an ovarian cancer survivor, and I have seven great-aunts and uncles pass from colon cancer.

My DD14 is setting her sights on being involved in a career involving cancer research in some way to assure other families never have to experience the pain we are experiencing today.

If you find the father doing drugs or there is evidence that he is, report to Child Services immediately. If they are able to confirm, they will remove the child to his grandparents.
