SeattleMark is correct. It's based on the number of nights. You would get 8 table service, 8 counter service, and 8 snacks per person per night. You can use them from the moment you check-in until midnight on the day you check-out (April 8th).
Wonderful! My problem was this. We're checking in about 10 pm on Thursday Mar 31 and checking out on Saturday March 9. Our package only went to March 8, but I had them change our room only reservation to our first night, March 31, instead of our last night, March 8, and that helps with our dining plans.

Hmm that is odd. I was under the impression that you couldn't do MYW dining with a room only res? I thought that you had to have dining the entire length of your stay or not at all. Did you make it as an entirely different ressie? So there is a potential that you may have to change rooms? Or did you just call them and tell them ROOM ONLY on the first night? I hope I'm making sense. Another way to get around that problem is to use the extra table service meals at Signature restaurants
Someone here will know for certain. But it soundslike you have a package, on then added on a Room Only night. The MYW dining plan would be against the package only (not the room only night) I THINK. So it would be the number of nights with the package. ?? (Not the total number of nights in this case.)
I suggest contacting who you booked your package through to verify.
You're correct. You can't use the Dining package with a room only. That was our problem. See, we're checking in late, like at 10:30 pm, but that night was included in the package even though we wouldn't have a chance to eat at WDW that day. Our last night was the room only reservation, not on the dining package. I wanted our first night to be the room only reservation so that our last night would be included on the dining plan and they were able to do that for us.
The reason we have a package for 7 nights and room only for 1 night is because they couldn't do an 8 night package even though we're staying for 8 nights.
That all is probably as clear as mud. I hope it made some sense.
If the package is for 7 nights than that is the number of meals you get, if you are staying an 8th night as a room only that doesn't count on the meal plan.
Hmmm... I was going to call next week to switch our 8 night stay (currently room only) to get the dining package. I wasn't aware they wouldn't do it.
