There is actually a funny story behind my engagement ring...
My hubby and I had a long-distance relationship before our marriage. We started talking marriage, and he said he wanted me to help him pick out my ring. I said no way, it was bad enough the official proposal wouldn't be a surprise. I wanted him to at least pick out the ring on his own!
About a month later, he came to visit, and pulled out my ring. I opened the box.. and the ring had two heads! It was kind of like the bottom half shown here:
except the stones stuck up higher. I was flabbergasted. Hubby had purchased just the wedding ring part of the set, not realizing the solitaire part was supposed to come first, and nestle in the middle of the other stones.
I had to stifle a laugh. What could I say? I had made such a big stink about not helping him pick the ring ... I couldn't say anything! So, I smiled, said yes to the proposal, and proudly wore the ring. I got a lot of questions about the "two-headed ring," let me tell you.
We talked about it later, and we thought we'd just get the solitaire ring as my wedding ring, and the set would be complete. But, when we went back to the site he purchased it from, we couldn't find it!
Fortunately, the ring was also much too large for my finger (hubby insists that part wasn't his fault--he says he put the right size on the order form). When I got it sized down, the jeweler pushed together the two stones. Now, it looks like it was supposed to be that way all along.
Our wedding rings are just simple gold bands.
