Depressed?

Without a long explanation, let's just say I've had some personal problems lately--husband related. All my friends keep warning me that I need to watch out for depression.

All I seem to do today is cry. Nothing new has occurred to cause this. I just feel so sad today, like what really matters? I really don't expect this feeling to last long. It can't--I have to go to work in a few hours. My question is: when does sadness become something to be concerned about?

Thanks for any input,
Karen

hey :( , I think after a few days unless its something real big, like a death.

He's right. If you can't snap out of this within a couple days, I'd go see a doctor.

You might go see a counselor anyway. They might be able to help you deal with things in a better way.

No advice............just

Hope you are feeling better soon. :flower3:

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way... sometimes the problems just get to be overwhelming, and it's hard to see how to bring about a solution, or find the strength to deal with the issues.

Do you have a trusted friend you can confide in and dump your feelings to? Sometimes just letting an outside party listen can help us get some perspective and help sort out which things we can change, and which things we can't.

What the literature says is that if you have been feeling this way for 2 weeks or more, you need to seek help from your doctor.

Your depression seems to have a cause. Take the time to deal with the cause and the feelings will be better. Your reacting to something thats unpleasant and is hurting you, thats OK!! Give yourself permission to feel bad, cry, scream whatever you have to do. The brain is an amazing instrument it makes us cry when something is bothering us, scream when we need a release. Don't look for something pathological when its emotional.
Take time to be good to yourself!!

Just sending hugs. I'm sorry you are hurting and sad.

As Pop Daddy & others have mentioned, aside from a death, if you're feeling depressed over other matters, it shouldn't be longer than a short period of time. In my case, I was in a deep depression over the death of my Mother but it didn't really start till about 8 months after she passed on. My OB/GYN diagnosed my problem (I wasn't just sad, I had other issues that were getting in the way of life which were caused by the depression) & put me on medication, strongly urged me to see a therapist & strongly urged me to exercise since I was nearly 'over the edge.' I followed his advice & I'm 60% better now (that's per the therapist!) Exercising releases good hormones & that's why that was part of his treatment plan for me.

Please go talk to a professional. Absolutely nothing will be solved by you being depressed ~ it will only make the rest of your life even worse! Take care of YOU first & the rest will work itself out.
