Depressed About Forecast

We're heading to DW tomorrow and the forecast for our entire stay looks awful - rain/thunderstorms every day. No sun in forecast at all. I am well aware that Florida is known to have passing storms this time of year, but last year we had full days of rain almost ever day we were there. Now, it looks like we'll be experiencing the same thing. I know it's Disney and we'll still have fun, but it really does put a major damper on things

I just looked at the Weather Channel 10 day forecast for Disney World.
Tomorrow is only 50% chance of rain.
Thursday does look like a rainy day.
Friday and Sunday only have a less than 30% chance.
Monday- Thursday show no rain (as of now).

Florida weather is crazy - Even when they say 30-50% chance of rain, it could still mean just a quickly passing storm. I bet you will see plenty of sunshine.

In the early summer of 2009(I can't remember if it was late May or early June) there had been constant showers and flooding all the way up to our trip. The forecast for our week was DIRE...the whole week. On the ME on our way to the Boardwalk Inn it continues to rain...we saw all kinds of flooding on the sides of the highway. We pulled up to the BWI...and the rain stopped. It barely rained for the rest of the week! My sister had been praying about it all the way there.

I'm a Florida native, and this is really just how spring/summer is around here. If it's any consolation, typically our storms don't last too long, and it can help to clear some crowds out of the park. Just pack a poncho, change of socks/shoes and be prepared to wait out somewhere. The forecasts aren't always correct.

We arrive on Friday and it looks like it may rain some then, then a little on Saturday morning. Sunday and Monday look sunny. It may not be so bad.

Although I would prefer the rain to stay away, I have decided that a rainy day at WDW is still better than any day at work!

I agree with everyone-spring/summer means passing showers. I'm sure they'll only last for a brief amount of time, though! Besides, a rainy day in Disney is better than a sunny day at home!

It cuts the crowds down to almost nothing. We ride sooo many more rides during the rain. There are a few that close if it gets too stormy, but we've found the positive outweighs the negative. Just prepare for it - no fun squelching around in wet socks and tennis all day. Have fun!

April can be one of the stormiest months because of the changeable spring weather. The mid west to the southeast/up the eastern coast is really catching it now.

We've also been to Disney in April 2012/2013 and the weather was mostly nice - just depends on the year. This hard winter seems to be carrying into spring. Never know!

Unlike some previous posters I do 'not' like Disney in the rain. I would rather be home any day. I go to Disney for much more than the rides. I'm a fair weather southern (summer) girl! Love the heat, don't enjoy the cold.

We'll be driving in tomorrow evening and the weather does look a little sketchy for our quick three day trip but I'm just going to say that I hope it keeps the crowds away!

So what's the best park for the rainiest day?

I love Disney and have been lucky that I only had one trip that got "rained out" I was there in June and storms set in and did not leave! My normal reaction is to grab a poncho and go. By the end of the week I was so tired of walking in rain, riding in rain, watching shows in the rain. Disney is better with better weather-hope the forecast is wrong and you have no to little rain!

My local app shows the next few days (until Saturday) to be like today (88 with thunderstorms) today it stormed for maybe an hour at 6:00.

Next week (Sunday on) shows full sun and hot!

We walked from Akershus to the monorail around 6:15pm today and got drenched. Rained very hard from around 5:30-6:45. Thunder and lightning played havoc on the monorail also. Looks to be the same tomorrow. Nice during the day with late afternoon storms.

Right now it looks like Thursday may be bad but the other days say scattered tstorms, and 30% chance of rain. Last year when we went we had that forecast for every single day and we saw a lot of sun. Mostly sun really. I hope you end up getting better weather than last year. Look at the bright side, at least it's not hurricane season! I was there for a hurricane in oct 2004 when they closed the parks and we couldn't leave our room (POR so no lobby), for a whole day. They played disney movies all day on their in resort tv channels. Everyone was raiding the gift shops the night before for their 'grocery' items. and wine, haha! Good memories, still.

Let's make a deal....You can come and do my job for the next week and I will take your time at WDW with all the bad weather!!! We went last year in March and just went we got there a cold front came through and they had the coldest 4 days that they have had in March in a long time. We put on our layers and went to the parks...We had a great time....we were not at work!!

It has been so, so, so hot and humid here, we've been here since last Saturday, that when it finally rained today, we were relieved lol We haven't been able to stay for excessive amounts of times at the parks because we're getting sun stroke/heat stroke, it's so draining! Maybe we're crazy, but we're looking forward to the bursts of rain if they come over the next few days

It rained really bad for 2 full days on one of our recent Disney trips. We actually went to the water parks those days. There were only maybe 20 people there. They said that they might temporarily halt some rides if there was lightening nearby but it never happened either day. We walked right on everything with no wait and hardly ever saw another person. It really felt like the parks were open for only us. The big wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon was so fun in the pouring rain. Hardly anyone in there and it felt like we were in a tropical paradise swimming around. The air temperature was quite pleasant also and the water was all heated. I'm not sure we would have done the water parks otherwise but we are a big fan now.

On the next trip (our most recent) we hoped for a rainy day so we could see if the water parks would be empty again. Yep. Same thing. Had a blast.

I guess there's the risk of lightening closing things down so perhaps we got lucky. But we live in Florida and know how quick these storms tend to blow through.

I'm not a fan of the regular parks in the rain. Wet clothes, wet shoes and wet rides I don't really enjoy. If I didn't go to a water park I would just chill at the resort that day.

Also remember that Florida weather changes so fast. It can say 90% chance of rain tomorrow and then you look a few hours later and it's 20%.

It rained hard today for about an hour around dinnertime, then it was beautiful for Illuminations. Started lightly raining right afterwards, not heavy, I had no issues walking back to BWV in it. And the rain dropped the temperature by about 20 degrees! It was lovely!

If we have the same tomorrow, I'll be perfectly happy.

The weather in FL changes from one extreme to another in a very short amount of time, and a forecast is nothing more than an educated guess. I am going down for a quick weekend getaway this Friday through Sunday - the weather forecast this morning has already changed from the one I read last night. Go to the park and plan accordingly for the forecast given that morning. If it rains, you'll be prepared, and if it doesn't, then you'll be pleasantly surprised!

We have family in South Florida and it's always a bummer when we go to visit and it rains for a good portion of the trip - but then again, there is no theme park to distract us! Rain causing short lines sounds like a good deal, and if the rain is warm it's not bad. I hope it all works out for you!
