So our bank changed contracts from Visa to Master Card. We are going to go ahead and cancel the cruise until we figure out my health issues. Yes we are prior to the PIF date.

So the number is still in existence but that card can't be used anymore. How do we get our refund? Do they just submit it to the bank and then the bank takes care of it? Has anyone ever had something like this before? TIA - no one to really ask since it's a weekend.

We cancelled a cruise that was an OBB which had been moved a couple times, so was probably 3 years old at the time we cancelled. We had closed the Visa card the deposit had been made with. Other cruises had been paid for with our new Visa, so I didn't think anything of it. We got a statement from the old CC company with a refund check in the amount of the deposit.

Are you talking about a debit card linked to a checking account or a credit card?

Sorry it took so long...lots of little fires being put out.

It's one of those cards that can be used as debit/credit. I believe as long as the originating account is open that the refund will just go into the actual account, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew :)

We had a similar situation - there was fraudulent activity on our account and Visa caught it, and issued us new cards with a new number. In the middle of this we had a refund coming thru and it was no problem. Because it was the same overall account in the system, it worked itself out.

Yeah, I don't know for sure about a switch on branding, but I have twice had new visa check cards issued due to fraudulent activity and both times have needed refunds after. The first time I called my bank in a panic and was assured that the card is essentially closed to all transactions that send money out, but it remains attached to the account for any funds coming in - such as refunds.

Assuming it is the same bank, I would guess that the brand change will be handled the same way.
