Democratic debate

Im confused about Hillary, she was referring to being President as a "lonely job" implying that she'd be making the decisions herself...also implying that Bill also made the decisions himself...but what about the 35 years of experience?

I thought she was counting 8 years of being in the white house as experience, but she didn't make any decisions? :confused3

I think the lonely reference was to the fact that you're kept in a like a fish bowl - you can never really leave the White House, unless its a major coordinated event (secret service entourage, etc).

They become very isolated once voted in......

At least, that was my take on it.

And she is wearing LIMEGREEN earrings. She is a DISER!;)

:lmao:

I've lost control of my thread. I can't believe we're discussing Hilary's jewelry.:rotfl: What are your opinions on Obama's lavendar tie??:rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

Imagine if they asked Barak, how would he shut up his wife?????:scared1:

:scared1: that is the face I made when he asked that question

So here is where everyones been....was wondering why all was so quiet:thumbsup2
Good debate . Posted on the Liberal thread on what i thought about it so will leave it to that cause it is late and good night.

Frank lUntz' focus group says obama won overwhelmingly.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/104071/Gallup-Daily-Tracking-Election-2008.aspx
Obama rising in the polls up 11 percent.

The focus group that has the little machin ones and asked of hands showed from CNN said Hillary.....so go figure :confused3 I think at this late in the decision that you will be undecided till they get to the voting booths and poke out that wittle hole and walk away.

The second poll you show was from Jan 27th up 11 points...would like to see what it is over the next couple days.

Still think this thing has always been HC's to lose. She's up big in the polls in 4 of the 6 states that have more than 100 delegates for Super Tuesday. She's still up nationally, so even if they split the rest she'll be the big winner. Then from what I can tell, she's up pretty big in Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania down the road. You can't lose most of the bigger states, split the smaller states and win. In the end I don't even see this thing being close.

If HC wins California, NY, NJ and Mass. on Tues. put a fork in Obama.

Sorry I missed watching with you guys, but I did catch CNN's recap afterwards and I was really impressed with the class that BOTH candidates showed.

I liked Hillary's statement that while she and Barack do have their differences, those diffrences PALE in comparision to the differences that both of them have with the Republicans.

From the highlights, it looked like they both did well. I've been saying it for a year, a Clinton/Obama ticket would be the perfect blend of experience and vision. It also would position him perfectly to take his place in the Oval in 8 years.

I did think the Bill question was sexist. If I were Obama, I'd have made a joke about Michelle feeling slighted that he wasn't asked how he was going to control her! :lmao:

Looks like turquoise to me. Which one of us is colorblind? :rotfl:

They are turquoise. I am pretty sure that she is wearing the same necklace and earrings that she wore at a small event in NH that I was at back in October. I think that color looked really nice on her.

I was really impressed with both of them tonight. What a contrast to last nights debate!

Up until tonight I had been saying that I wasn't sure if I would vote for Hillary if she got the nod but tonight changed that. I would love to see a Hillary/Obama ticket, I give the edge to her because I think she does seem to have a better understanding of just how hard it is to make change in Washington.

I've always been impresed with Obama but I had been really critical of Hillary, I decided tonight to look at her with "fresh eyes", leave all my past opinions of her behind and look at her as just another candidate. I don't know if it was that thinking or if she was really "on" tonight, maybe a combo of both. Either way, she really impressed me.

I was really bummed after Edwards dropped out because I didn't think I'd be able to find someone that I could really get behind, someone that I'd be proud to vote for but tonight I found two. I'm very excited.

Clinton/Obama '08

I started another thread before I saw this one but...

I was undecided until last night. I watched the whole debate hoping I'd be able to make a decision. Guess what? I'm still undecided!?!?!?!!? :confused3 Our Primary is Feb 12 so I still have time to decide.

I loved the civility of the debate. I think they realized that they needed to battle the Republicans more than each other and I think they did it quite well.

I missed the debate but it sounds like I'd still be undecided if I'd watched it! What a change from 4 years ago.

Tell you one thing, no matter who you thought won the debate, that went a whole lot of way toward helping the Democratic party come November...very well done!!

What a difference from last night's debate!!

I agree. :thumbsup2

Though I do agree with a PP who said that Obama seemed a lot more relaxed than Clinton...she seemed pretty rehearsed.

I was impressed with how they talked about their similarities compared to the Republicans.

Made the Rep. from the night before look like sniping little boys. :rotfl:

A debate in Los Angeles in front of a crowd of celebrities = Hillary's perfect setting. We watched and couldn't help but notice how often HC didn't answer the question posed. It would have been fun if they had a meter on the screen for the number of names that she drops during a "typical" debate. If America believes that she is a person for change they had better prepare for anything but. If the prior Clinton Whitehouse was so efficient, why didn't they get Saddam when they "bombed" him in '98. Had they done the job then(when we weren't at war), we wouldn't be there now! As for a O/C ticket or a C/O ticket, it wouldn't happen. Now Obama/Edwards, that would be a strong ticket.

How does middle-America relate to celebrity-rep Clinton?

They relate to celebrity-rep Clinton because they want to be connected with those celebrities. Now, I'm not defending this, but there are a lot of voters in this country who will look to see who their favorite celeb is endorsing or was photographed with and they will vote for that person.

I'm not blaming the Clinton Administration for George's war. The decision to start combat operations in Iraq can be laid squarely at GW's feet and nowhere else.

They ALL drag out celebrities, that is if they can find any to endorse them. I'm middle-America and I relate to Clinton just fine. :thumbsup2

FTR, the Clinton Administration bombed Osama bin Laden's training facilities in August of '98, not Saddam Hussein. Don't worry, after hearing the current Administration try to tie Saddam to Bin Laden ad nauseum over the past few years, anyone could make that mistake...

I was wondering myself when she quoted that, but wasn't sure either!

This is the same peace loving Clinton administration who was bombing without an act of war?

Who said that the Clinton Administration was peace loving?

If you're talking about our policing the UN sanctioned no-fly zones in Iraq with British allies, sure we mixed it up, but we never resorted to full-scale war. The idea was that we could shake up Hussein's hold on power without completely committing our military, as now looking back over the last few years with 20/20 vision, it wasn't President Bush's finest hour when he chose a preemptive invasion.

December 16, 1998, President Clinton launches Operation Desert Fox - 4 day missile and bombing attack at Saddam. The attempt was to weaken Saddam's ability to produce weapons of mass destruction.

1996 - Sudanese offer to arrest bin Laden. Clinton administration declines.

Bin Laden is later deported to Afghanistan and terrorism was never the same.

August, 1998. Busy defending himself from the sex scandal and the campaign funding scandal, Clinton orders action and we blow up a pharmaceutical factory in the Sudan and some bin Laden strongholds in Afghanistan.

Yes, Clinton bombed Saddam in 1998.

OK...so what exactly does that prove?
