Deluxes and free dining?

Since someone posted about what are their chances with POR and free dining, I thought I would ask everyone that has been doing this for years, what do you think the chances are for free dining with deluxes?

This is my first year doing free dining and our first choice is WL, followed by AKL then maybe either the moderates or FW cabin. (We do have a list of choices beyond that, but we are hoping and thinking we won't need those. lol )

I know in the past that the Fort Wilderness was not an option with free dining. I am hoping that deluxes will be included!

I saw lots of people posting last year about getting FW cabins and free dining, so I think it will be included. We just have it down further on our list because of the walking and dfil and no counter service.

What is even smaller is that I use to live in Cumming for 11 years! I just moved to Canton 2 years ago.

With the number in your Family (even with the baby being under 2 yrs.)
you will have to either get 2 rooms or find a Resort that can accommodate

Thanks! My dfil and dmil are coming too, so we were already planning on 2 rooms.

I think at least one year the cabins were included at FW. The RV and tent sites are not (for apparent reasons)

Honestly, Wilderness Lodge is wishful thinking. Tried in years past, but to no avail. I disinctly remembering last year lots of people tried to get it and the general consensus was you could not. AKL is almost always available, depending on your view. I am learning that WL is almost always booked. I had the 40% postcard and I thought it would increase my chances to get it. It did not happen.

We did get the WL last year for free dining. I called the first morning with VISA option (very first morning) and got in. We were there 8/31 to 9/4. Had a woods view room. Good luck!

We were there for free dining last August for a week and we stayed at WL. There were no 'standard view' rooms available. I think only courtyard or something, which put me over my budget. I kept calling and checking the website, and within a week we had a Woods View room. The weird thing was I saw the availability on the website, then called Disney to change my ressies. They said they saw no availability for WL. They advised me to book online, then call back to cancel my previous ressies, and that is what I did. Good luck!!!!!!

Thanks! You guys give us hope. I know I am dreaming and it is really hard to get into the WL, but I wanted to see if anyone "did" get it. We really want the woods view there and the pool view at akl. I am hoping that from reading what people have said and what people posted this year and last year, that if I don't get the WL to begin with (yes, I do have a disney visa and plan to call first thing, even though the kids are on spring break. LOL ) then I might be able to get it before our trip, if I keep religiously checking.

Wow that is awesome you guys got in. I honestly did not think anyone got it unless you wanted the honeymoon suite. It is so nice there. OP I really hope that you get it. Make sure you are up at the crack of dawn to be the first to call. LOL

We got WL last year AND we booked standard view with the free dining on the first day it was available for Visa card holders. We originally had a reservation at AKL on a 40% code but on the day of free dining, we switched to WL which was our first choice. The discount worked better for our family and it was our first choice. My suggestion if you can't get your exact dates is to back your date up a day or two. This usually works. We changed from August 31 to August 30th and they could accommodate us.

Good luck with WL. We loved it. We are booked at AKL this year with a code and are waiting to see if free dining comes out. Again, it saves us more money because we purchased the dining deal.

Thanks! Unfortunately, we can't be flexible with the dates (the kids are on a fall break from school the week we are going.) so that is why we have 4 or 5 choices for our hotels.

That is soooo funny because when things slowed down, I tried to switch back to AKL and couldn't. Later I found out that they were offering moves to Poly because of the construction and were not booking AKL at all. If only I had stayed, we would have been upgraded to Poly!!

I have to say, I loved WL and was quite happy there. I wanted to also say to the poster who said their dates were not flexible, book AKL if you can't get WL and keep calling back. Everyone panics on the first couple of days but it will settle down and everyone will start doing the resort switch shuffle. Call every day. Most likely you will get in. Our first year of free dining, 2005, we booked All Star Movies but wanted POP. I called until I got it, finally.

I'm hoping for discounted deluxe dining. We are at the WL but paid for the "upgrade" for a woodsview with bunks, so keeping my fingers crossed that we get something....

We got the Poly last year with free dining. People were posting that it wasn't available and we got in. I called the first day, first thing in the morning.

This year we have the free dining due to the bounce back offer. We originally booked the Poly when we were there, but later decided to change to the WL just for a different experience. Disney was accommodating and changed everything over and let us keep the free dining.
