My home resort is SSR and I have not kept up to speed much on recent changes. I see now that SSR now has deluxe which is Springs and Congress. Can someone summarize why those two are preferred? I know in the past I've tried to stay at Congress or Grandstand. Thanks.

To my understanding, those two areas are considered preferred due to the closer proximity to the Carriage House and access distance to Disney Springs.

It's preferred view and standard view. And preferred is CP and Springs because many folks requested those 2 sections. CP for short walk over to DS. And Springs to be near Carriage House and main pool (and QS).

SSR has been under renovations. They are really nice renovations. They completed the Preferred View sections. And are just about done with Paddock section of Standard view and began Carousel. They will be done this summer.

It's preferred view and standard view.

I would clarify here. It is all about location, not view. The view from many Standard units is nicer than the view from many Preferred units. It is all about geography, not outlook.

related Question: we moved our June trip to Xmas this year. 11 months is in 12 day... or so debating 2Br preferred or standard vs THV. Basically, we can do 9 nts preferred or THV, or 11 nts standard. Trying to figure out if the DS proximity or THV space makes more sense to justify the points. It’s myself, DW, MIL, and our boys, who will be 18 and turning 16 during trip. Any thoughts are appreciated.

THV third bedroom has a set of bunk beds. Unless someone in the family is short, that room might not be usable by your group. No king bed in the THV, just two queen beds (one in each bedroom), one queen sleeper and one twin sleeper chair. Only two bathrooms. Do standard and request Paddock or Grandstand.

Honestly, I have stayed preferred building and standard section of The Grandstand.

All were great, I think the only standard area I would be disappointed in would be the Carousel section as I have heard it’s pretty far out.

But I don’t think you can go wrong. I would not be a fan of the THV, but that is personal choice, nothing more.

Yes that changed in 2016. Many people seem to find Standard to be fine, especially if you don’t spend a ton of time at the main building.

I think most recently the preference has been for preferred location buildings as a way to be assured of getting a newly renovated room as those buildings were updated first. With the renovations being completed in all buildings by the end of summer the demand for preferred location rooms should become less.

Thanks, I didn't know about the renovation schedule. Makes sense.
