Hello everyone! I am booking a trip for the last week in January and want to book at a deluxe resort in Disney. We really like the convience of the Contemporary because we love eating at the Cali Grill and will probably eat there multiple times, as well as the monorail to MK and Epcot. We also like Boardwalk or Beach Club because they are close to Epcot - plus they are cheaper than Comtemporary. So we are looking for advice on which is the best for easy transportation and best place for the price...

The Contemporary has the easiest access to MK, while Beach Club/Boardwalk have the easiest access to Epcot through the International Gateway. If it really gets down to a decision on transportation between these two, then I'd have to go with the Contemporary as you can still easily get to Epcot using a transfer on the monorail.

My suggestion though would be to try something new. Have you thought about renting DVC points for a Bay Lake Tower stay? You'll get twice the room for half of the cost of rack rates at the Contemporary and still have access to the monorail and California Grill. One downside with a DVC stay though is that you won't get your daily maid service. You can always still pay extra for this, but most people live without it. If you consider this, you might want to check out David's Vacation Rental service, or the DVC rental boards here on this site. There are a lot of resources that may help you through the DVC rental process.

If you don't like the DVC idea, then I think that you should just stay wherever you feel happiest. Certainly balance out the cost difference in your mind, but stay where your heart tells you to go.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

The California Grill is closing in January 2013 for 6 months of refurbishing, so if you are basing your stay at the CR due to the CG you might want to reconsider.

Both are great choices! Last month, I did a split stay between BCV and BLT and enjoyed it.

Another resort I love is Poly. I enjoy taking the monorail to MK and other monorail resorts. Also short walk to TTC (or monorail) to get monorail to Epcot.

I've recently become an Epcot Resort convert. From Boardwalk, you can walk to Epcot (7-8) minutes and the Studios (about 15 min). Busses ran frequently to MK and AK. At BC, your walk to Epcot is less than 5 min, and to get to the Studios, you can walk in about 15-20 min, or take the boat, after a stop at Swan and Dolphin.

which park are you going to stay at the majority of your time - MK or Epcot.

if Mk - then CR/BLT

if Epcot then BC/BCV/YC or BW

they are both about equal distance from their parks - BCV Epcot, BLT - MK

not the front/back gates but in the parks doing stuff.

with BC/YC or BW the problem can be getting to the MK. sometimes they share a bus with all the Epcot resorts. doing busy times - YC and BC will share - BW will share with D&S. to cut down on the transportation time. problem is that Disney is so far not saying when they are using the better bus schedules. You can go to the MK on the shorter route - only to come back on the longer one.

with the monorail they were closing it sooner than Epcot was doing magic hours evening. so if you like to close the parks that might be a problem. (you ride a bus instead)
