Hi! We are on the DxDDP for the first time. We have 8 & 4 year olds (plus an infant), so we have a LOT of credits to use.

Many of our meals are fixed price or buffet (CRT, Bon Voyage breakfast, CP, etc), but I noticed that the ones that aren't allow us all an appetizer, entree, and dessert. This is simply too much food for us. If I choose, can I use my appetizer to order chicken tenders and fries for my 4 year old, therefore saving the credit for a QS between meals or some snacks for later? The kids meals are basically the same price or cheaper than an appetizer anyway. The two places I was considering this is Sanaa and SciFi.

Any experience or insight is appreciated! We usually get the DDP but DH really wanted to try Yachtsman this time and my 4 year old DD really wanted CRT so upgrading only made sense.

Thanks!

You can use your app to feed your kids and not use their credits, but you have to order an app that's on the menu. Sci Fi has chicken tenders in their app section, but it doesn't come with fries. Sanaa doesn't have them at all.

You cannot substitute an appetizer for a kids meal. They are like interchanging apples and oranges. I would just order the child a kids meal and use a credit or pay oop. Or use your appetizer to order something the child would eat, or share an adult meal.

does the DxDDP make sense economically in your situation? That's a lot of time spent eating plus none of the dining plans are designed to save money except in very specific circumstances.

I think DxDP makes good sense because they have a bunch of fixed-price and two credit meals, but if you want to give your child the app, you would need to order from the app section and not from the kids' meal. The kids' meal will automatically trigger an additional DxDP credit to be used.

In the app section, Sanaa has a fantastic bread service with delicious dips that you can get on the DxDP and it is large enough that your entire family can share. My kids always love bread with dip. That may b a good option. You can also share your entrees with them. Sanaa has a trio of curry meats/veggies that is absolutely yummy. One of our favorite things to get!

If there is nothing that appeal to the kids from the app menu, you can always pay for a kids meal OOP and save a credit for later. But honestly, with all of the snack and meal credits, i have found that it is better to use them than to leave credits behind. a $15 kids meal at a TS is better than a credit left behind.
