Hi everybody! I did a search for AP threads but could not find an answer to my question so please forgive me if it's been asked a million times.

My oldest DD and I are going on a 3-4 day girls only trip in January and then our family will be doing a 5-6 day trip in June. We figure since we are going twice that it would be worth it to buy DD and I annual passes (Deluxe) in the end saving us few bucks for both trips.

In the meantime DD's Student Council will be planning a trip. I assume it would fall on a weekend and most likely on a blocked Saturday. So my question is: would she pay full admission for that Saturday or would she pay a discounted rate to get in with the AP? If so, how much? Seems to me I've read it's a discounted rate but for the life of me I can't find the info. Any info would be appreciated.:goodvibes

Deluxe AP's are good for almost everyday except saturdays and holidays. Last time I checked, There is a $50 surcharge to go on a blockout day.

I was looking at the calendar to see if it would be worth it for our June trip (it is) but I have no idea when her school trip would be. If the went for a weekend, most likely she'd have to pay for a Sat. Are you saying if the days she went were all blocked it would still be $59? Does that include both parks?

Yes with an AP you show it at the ticket booth and pay $59 for the blockout ticket which is like a one day PH.

The tricky thing is if going on two blockout days is the premium worth it? She would be $2 short of breaking even. If she pays for food with a premium she would make it up quickly. But she has to pay to get the discount, not you. If you only have a delux you will only recieve the delux discount which is less. 10 to 15% on food, 10 to 20% on merchandise.

It depends on which Saturday she would go. Deluxe is blocked on Saturdays from sometime in March (I believe) until late August. The rest of the year they are not blocked on Saturdays (except for Holiday weekends). So it would either be valid for that Saturday or you would need to pay the $59 blockout fee.

I'm sorry if I seem slow here. When you say Premium do you mean Premium AP? Even if she had to pay $118 for two days w/the Deluxe she'd still be saving $55 (A 2day park hopper is $173) plus have the 10% discount.
Oh wait, you're saying I should buy her the Premium AP instead of the Deluxe. Hmm, we'll have to see how her trip for school may or may not play out because I could potentially be spending too much.
(yes, I do realize I just said what you did but it took me typing out to get it-:rotfl2:)

Well, let's hope they plan it for Staff Development days, lol. Even so $59 isn't too bad, we'd still be ahead buying the Deluxe Passes for her and I since the family will be going in June.

Thanks for the help! :goodvibes

Exactly. What skiingfast was explaining is that depending upon how many blockout tickets you buy, you could be better off buying a premium. Although it seems like a big number up front, if she is really going to go all those times, you end up saving money ultimately.

One more thing for you to factor in:
When you come for the girls trip and/or the family trip, will you be driving to the Park? If so... a Premium Pass includes free parking during the day at the Resort (not overnight at the hotels). As long as your daughter is IN THE CAR with her AP, you don't have to pay $15/day for parking. $15 x 8-10 days = $120-$150. It adds up. And makes that AP more valuable.

If you aren't going to be there for any blockout days on your first trip, you can just start with deluxes. If it turns out that your daughter is going to be at the parks for two or more blocked out days on a future trip(s), then you could upgrade her pass to a premium AP once you are aware of your/her plans. This would have to be done at a ticket booth. The pass will still have the same expiration date as originally but at least you won't have spent the money until you know you actually need to do so.

Great point. We stay at the Fairfield so we walk but it's something to keep in mind, thank you.

This is why I love the DIS, this wouldn't have occurred to me. We have the plan then. Deluxes to start with and upgrade her to Premium if we need to.

Thanks again all!
