we bought our one way tickets to orlando 2 weeks ago, then bought the return on sunday, after watching it for about a month. So this morning they went down another 5 each way, well not a lot, thats 20 there and 20 home for 4 of us total, for $40. When i called them, they said they dont give any vouchers or anything for it going down.

is this true, or is there anything we can do at all?

thanks!

Most legacy carriers, including Delta do not offer credits, instead on a non-refundable ticket, they will be more then happy to process your request as a change, charge the on average $150 change fee per ticket and then give you the residual value as a credit. If the difference in the price is not greater then $150 per ticket, it's not worth the change as you'd actually be paying for it.

Very few airlines will give you a credit of any kind when they reduce fares. And I can understand that. They don't bill us additionally if the fares go up do they??? I still can't believe that JB and SW will credit you the difference when they lower fares. But, they do. But, basically, they are canceling your reservation and making a new one. I've done it, it's nice.
But other airlines?? Nope, they don't do it at all.

ok, thanks for making it clear, now i know for sure!:thumbsup2

Southwest has spoiled everyone. ;) It's great that they will give you a credit without a charge but now people are complaining that starting January it can only be used for the person on the original ticket. Meanwhile, almost every other airline has that rule plus they will charge you $150 to get the credit.

That happened to back in 2004 when I made a solo trip to Wdw. This was before I knew about dreams and other agencies. I had booked a complete Disney package thru continental vacations and paid roughly 150 per night (yes rack rates, I was naive about things back then) at Pop Century. About three weeks later Disney came out with great discounts, unheard of at the time, but I was told by the coa agent that I would lose the discount in change fees. That was the last time I made trips to the world without a Disney agent.

The airlines love their fees and make money off of them then they do sometimes on the tickets.

I sure hope Jetblue doesn't do this. I love their credit system.

Jet Blue does charge for changes:

I can tell you for a fact they do not charge if you are only changing to take advantage of a lower fare. As long as there are enough seats at the lower fare for you to rebook your exact same flight on, there is no charge and will receive a credit for the full amount deposited to a travel account valid for one year from the time the credit is provided (this is different the SWA).

I agree with jlewisinsyr, JB doesn't charge you if your price drops and you call for a credit. I have gotten credits probably 10 times over the last few years and as recently as last month. The credit can all go into one account and you have 1 year from the time your get the credit to use it. You use it like cash and it doesn't matter who you are buying tickets for. I have to say, they have the best credit system out there. I've even gotten credits on ticket I've purchased for other family members. You just have to remember to make sure the JB rep kept the seats your choose, but going online quickly afterwards to check is always a good idea.

Keep in mind when you call for a credit, your exactly route has to be available for the entire party. If you have 3 seats reserved and the new price is only good for 2 seats, then you can't get it. You also can't get a credit for an internet sale fare.

However, if you want to make a change to another flight or day, then there is a charge. $100 if your flight is $99 or over and $50 if its under $99, and of course the increase price if the new flight is higher.
